The timing of Voris' smearjob makes me wonder how much of the impetus for it was simply petty, effeminate vindictiveness over being called out by The Remnant just a few days earlier (go to 19:20):
Outstanding video. I don' know how I missed this one. I really like how Matt and Ferrara actually have little jokes and inject a level of humor in their talks. This alone signals to me that there is truth in what they say. But that is just a general feeling I get, I see no error whatsoever in what they say and I do think I am able to grasp the material sufficiently.
He's even got some loudmouthed shoulder-padded woman blathering on on camera (instead of shutting up and deferring to her husband) so the Fox News simulacrum is all but complete at this point.
LOL. Who is this broad? I think she had some kind of radio blog show that I happened to listen to a couple of years back and only managed to make it through one of her shows. My memory is that it was pretty cringeworthy. Is that the extent of her street cred? But how about his other "producers"? As he adds new ones and incorporates them into this show, they appear to be taking on a level of self righteous smugness.
Who appointed them to be the guardians of the Deposit of the Faith? Well, no one, but what we have to recognize here is that what is going on is really nothing more than Voris and Company trying to stake out a position in which they are in the "reasonable" middle. In other words, they are presenting themselves as the only people who have actually understood the problem and while they haven't actually offered one, give the impression they too have the remedy.
The funny thing here is that in his protestations against criticism of the pope, he has tacitly done it himself. Even his new "shoulder-padded" girl does it for him, again tacitly, in last night's episode.
And your reference to a Fox News set is apt as well. When Mic'D Up first started, he took calls. Now he doesn't. It is closed in on itself with no feedback mechanisms for public view. Now that is not necessarily a bad thing and one could site good reasons for keeping a topic on course. But notice he doesn't allow comments on youtube either. That alone is frustrating.
Having said all of that, I would like to say that he is a force for good. What is frustrating to me is that he does not recognize the efforts of others along the road on whose shoulders he stands. Look, there is an old proverb that I think comes from the Orient. The nail that stands up gets hammered down. That is certainly true of Archbishop Lefebvre, among many others.
My suspicion in the rift between CMTV, The Remnant, and CFN is deeper than the angst over criticizing the pope. I think the wildcard here is Father Gruner and his Fatima Apostolate. I believe that Fatima happened, but I am convinced that the message has been corrupted by some from the beginning. Whether it was done on purpose or not doesn't really matter. But it seems to get more confusing by the day. I do criticize Ferrara, Matt, and Venari for their close alliance to Father Gruner.
Believing that a "5 minute prayer", their words, is going to usher in a "period of peace" is a very feminine idea. I am yet to even understand what they visualize as period of peace would even look like. Sungenis made a complete fool of himself in a string of letters to Culture Wars recently. His view is that by quantifying every war that took place during JPII's pontificate, from the significant to the smallest of tribal conflicts, was proof that the Consecration had not been done. Looking at it as if it is Dogma, which they do IMHO, is ridiculous.
I don't think Matt does himself any favors by associating with Father Gruner. He could certainly do so in a private way, but the biggest rub here is that he does not objectively cover the Fatima Apostolate as a journalist. This is a problem and someone should tell him about it already. Chris Ferrara writes books on the subject, that's OK. But what makes this video so fine is that they don't find the need to go there and yet they make the points cogently.
