  • I've read some interesting things about the Chinese Catholic Church, first one is that they pretty much were left out of Vatican II.
Many of them only started the new mass in the 1990s.

BEIJING — Tensions between Beijing and the Vatican are mounting after Chinese authorities detained an outspoken Catholic bishop who has defied state control of the church, a move that highlights the Communist Party’s deep mistrust of religious organizations.

Bishop Thaddeus Ma Daqin was whisked away just hours after he announced his resignation from the leadership of the Patriotic Catholic Association, or PCA, the government body that controls China’s state-sanctioned version of the Catholic Church, according to two people close to the PCA.

  • I understand that now the Chinese authorities have ordered a "re-education" of all priests and religous of the Shanghai diocese.

Let's pray for him that he will be faithful to the gospel in this difficult time.

  • I haven't got an ounce of Chinese blood in me, but for some reason, the condition of the Church in China pains me deeply. I hate to see how these faithful people are not only persecuted by the massive government that envelops them, but that they were also abandoned by the Conciliar Church for fear of angering the Chinese government.

Our Lady of China, pray for us.

  • For anyone interested in learning more about the situation in China, the Cardinal Kung Foundation does a pretty good job describing it:

  • This is not new that the Catholics are being persecuted in the People's Republic of China. The latest detailed reports come from Bishop Ignacius Wang (Auxiliary Bishop of San Francisco). This Bishop, the first Chinese-American made a one year tour in China, as well as Mongolia. He was apparently dispatched by Archbishop George Niederauer for this tour, and most assuredly send by Rome.
The reports concerning the "state church" in China were "not good". -Source: San Francisco Catholic.

lol, did the Bishop really have to go on a one year tour of China to make the conclusion that things were "not good"? I made the same conclusion with 10 minutes of research on the Internet.
