"The Bishop of Portsmouth has placed his diocese on “environmental alert” as well as directing people to examine their lifestyles in confession, after reading Pope Francis’ encyclical."

I notice there is no mention of him leading by example by turning off the AC/heat at his residence and beginning to ride a bike.

Perhaps there will be no more lamb chops, paper towels, or TP.  Will he switch to solar lights?  Cold showers? Give up afternoon tea?

I have a topic here on whether protecting the environment is just a hype.

I think God expects us to be good stewards of all he has blessed us with and that includes natural resources, we should use but not abuse his gifts.  But we cannot become obsessed with it.  God gave us this earth so we could provide for our physical needs and that is what we should use it for but we have to take good care of it so that it will be around for future generations.
