  • I went at DuckDuckGo when the logo said "STOP CISPA". I looked up what does it mean...
    some danger is impending.
It will be a cyber security law, but it might put Traditional Catholic sites in danger. So, we need to protest against this proposal. And not to mention that Microsoft supports this plan...
(another reason to use Linux) (from Wikipedia)

  • Don't worry about it.  If you are concerned about "being tracked," access CathInfo using the Tor Browser:

    https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en

    Use an anonymous emailer:

    http://tormail.org/

    Encrypt everything:

    http://www.truecrypt.org/

If the "gαy tide" starts to overtake us all, CathInfo can go into "Onionland":

    https://www.torproject.org/docs/hidden-services.html.en

Lots of nasty, terrible evil in "Onionland" so navigate while in the DarkNet carefully, but that's where we may have to be someday.  If you don't believe me, ask Simon Sheppard:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Sheppard_(activist)

Not that I agree with everything which he has to say (I don't), but very soon, if you're even thinking "anti-gαy" thoughts, the government will be after you as a "hate-monger."

  • Superb advice from Jehanne.
I always use a vpn that does not keep records (research very carefully), combined with Startpage HTTPS.
(and for Heaven's sake, do not use google)

Like everyone else on this forum, if anyone confiscated or accessed my hard drive, they would find a preponderance of traditional Catholic site visits - this marks us as suspicious by the government.  I think we all knew this day was coming.

  • OK, switched to TOR browser. It's pretty much like Firefox, but more secure.

  • I'm terribly computer illiterate. I got as far as downloading GnuPG. But I have no idea what this page means!

You don't need to deal with that. Just download the English version of the Tor Browser Bundle here: https://www.torproject.org/dist/torbrowser/tor-browser-2.3.25-5_en-US.exe

It's portable, so it installs into a folder and whenever you want to use it just go into the folder and click the file that says "Start Tor Browser.exe".

Oh, I see now. Thanks. I guess I can use this instead of chrome from now on.

Do you happen to know how I can clear all the possibly incriminating evidence of my Catholic faith from my computer?!

  • After the government takes our guns away, the internet will likely be their next target. They're already starting their work against the internet now. It's all about purging sites that expose their sick agenda.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

    Don't do that.

In the first place, if the state is intent on imprisoning or executing you due to your Catholicity, they will, and they will be able to prove it, with or without your computer.

Keep all your Catholic stuff on there.  Don't be bullied.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • This subject makes me wonder if some Catholics who've been found with child-porn on their laptops might have been set up. I don't have any reason to believe this has happened in any particular case, and as I said, I'm very ignorant when it comes to computers. I'm sure I wasn't the only Catholic who was shocked by the news that a certain Canadian bishop admitted he was guilty of that particular offense. But even if he's really guilty, I still wonder how he was caught. Is it normal procedure for people traveling with laptops to have them examined? I think he was crossing an international border when he was caught.

  • To add to what Mith said, your Catholic Faith is nothing to be ashamed of. Even if displaying your Faith openly to the world results in one being martyred, that is, as Bishop Williamson once said, "the fastest elevator to Heaven".

I would only use it for certain websites, such as those you need to logon in order to use. I wouldn't use Tor for all your internet activity. It can be pretty slow at times and you'd probably pull your hair out in frustration after a day of using it full time.

There are also VPN's, which are much faster. Some are free and require no signup, like TunnelBear or SpotFlux.

If I was an enemy of the Catholic Church I wouldn't be interested in making more blood martyrs for her, but I would probably be very interested in ways I could irritate or inconvenience her members. What little I understand about the internet and the masonic powers that be, it seems if they wanted to attack us they could do it much easier by targeting us for phishing and other scams, or just intercepting our e-mails, or whatever.

I notice it's harder to sign into yahoo, but I can sign into CathInfo without taking any additional steps.

It's possible, but more likely, these Catholic prelates wanted to be caught.  The hard-core "kiddie porn" pedos never (or, at least, very, very rarely) get caught.  I've "met" some of these folks (all men) on computer security forums, and while they, of course, never admit to the sin and crime of downloading and/or producing child porn, they do make it "crystal clear" that they are into that sort of thing and like to "brag" about it along with their expert knowledge of computer encryption, spoofing, proxies, etc.  Of course, they all post anonymously and so I have no idea who they are or where they live.

Computer security is a legitimate area of study and of society, but as with firearms, it can be and is abused by criminals, as well as by nation states!
