I knew a gentleman at work, an older man, who completely reversed his Type 2 diabetes by basically doing a low-carb / Atkins type of diet.  After he did that for about 6 months, he got off his medications and didn't need them anymore.

I've never seen anything about reversing Type 1.

I'm not a doctor, and I know that Type 1 is a different animal.

However, instead of going for meds and continuing that high-sugar, high-carb diet, why not alter your DIET instead? To me, that seems like common sense.

And this hits close to home, as I am self-diagnosed pre-diabetic. I don't crash anymore and my weight has stabilized since I cut out certain foods completely (sweetened drinks, for one). I miss cold cereal, but I can't eat it anymore.

I am on a "lax" version of a low-carb diet, and have been for years. It's been very good for me.

Most rice has arsenic.  Sugar causes  tooth rot and cancer.
