"Registered voters" doesn't mean anything. Half of these people won't vote. "Likely voters" is what you look for.

And if so many people are in favor of gαy marriage in CA, why did CA voters reject it when it went up for state wide vote? Why did the 9th circuit declare the ban unconstitutional, if they had any faith that the CA people would simply vote it in later?

I suspect liberal BS in this poll to put pressure on the Supreme Court not to overturn the 9th Circuit ruling. I think it's very likely propaganda.

According to Bernard Nathanson fake polls were often cooked up to promote legalizing abortion.

That may well be, but some of the most conservative states in the country have failed to pass abortion bans.

The people answering polls wanted Terry Schiavo dead.  The Congress turned on a dime when they found that out.  Heck, Father Cekada approved of it!

When you see articles in the Angelus publicizing "the letter of a Jєωιѕн businessman" defending the Novus Ordo in the sex abuse scandal, you really start to wonder what's going on.

Poll finds big gains for same-sex marriage in California

By Mark DiCamillo and Mervin Field

The latest Field Poll finds voter approval of same-sex marriage to be at the highest level ever recorded during thirty-five years of polling on the issue in California.

Currently 59% of this state’s registered voters favor allowing same-sex couples to marry and have regular marriage laws apply to them, while 34% disapprove. Another 7% do not express an opinion.

This division of sentiment is nearly a complete reversal of the findings from the first time The Field Poll began measuring Californians’ attitudes toward same-sex marriage in 1977. At that time, 59% disapproved and 28% were in favor…

Very large or sizeable majorities of sub-groups of the state’s electorate now supports allowing same-sex marriage. These include voters in each of the four major regions of the state, Democrats, non-partisans, middle-of-the-road and liberal voters, young and middle age groups, men and women, white non-Hispanics, married as well as single voters, Catholics, voters affiliated with non-Christian religions, and those with no religious preference.

Sentiment on this issue is mixed among voters age 65 and older, African-Americans and Protestants.

Republicans and political conservatives are the only major blocs where majorities are opposed to gαys and lesbians marrying.

Lets hope they never cross the threshold of "Ten Just Men"

According to that survey in 2008 it was 51% pro 42% against and 7% no opinion.  However Proposition 8 passed (in 2008) with 52% for and 47% against with 80% voter turnout.  Seems fishy.
