Ah yes the "good" old John Hughes classic full of teenage rebellion, marijuana use, "It's all my parents fault" nonsense, etc.
Of course we have 5 different kids walk into detention or whatever being different cliques and they all "bond" over the hatred they have for their parents and hook up and be couples, etc., etc., etc.
I'm not even going to comment on the stupidity of kids smoking marijunana as that is obvious (of course our popular culture has no problem promoting drug use) but I really think the only kid who has an actual sob story about his parents is that "criminal guy" whose father lights cigarettes on his arm, and even that is no excuse for his thug behavior (yes I do not give excuses for this kid).
Anyway it is the usual counterculture formula of kids being "smarter" than their parents and knowing and understanding more.
By the way just being out of high school myself I have to look back and laugh at the petty teenage concern of fretting over being popular and liked and things of that nature. Once you become and adult and go into the real world you realize how high school was just so easy, even though back in those days you were always going through some teenage drama.
