For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?

  • This video seems to me a good example that just because you agree with someone's conclusions, you shouldn't necessarily agree with their arguments.

In particular, at about 35 minutes it interprets 2 Peter 3 as a condemnation of "uniformitarianism". This appears to go against the literal sense of the passage, which seems to be saying that yes, the world continues on for now but the Lord is to come in the future, and the scoffers are wrong much as Noah's scoffers were wrong.

You probably don't like Fr. Robinson because he's still with the SSPX, but I found he wrote about this passage specifically. I don't know if he's correct, but I find it interesting that he says the few Church Fathers who commented on the passage don't make that interpretation, nor do key Catholic commentators such as Cornelius a Lapide or Haydock. The interpretation that this passage condemns "uniformitarianism" appears to come from a Protestant, Henry Morris.

  • I watched all the videos, and I must say I learned a lot.

And I'm not exactly 15 years old with no years behind me, no studies under my belt, etc. In fact, I spent time at a Trad seminary and have read literally hundreds of Catholic books in my lifetime. I've also studied this very topic many times before!

And my time was well spent watching this series. I am now better equipped for apologetics re: Creation vs Evolution debate.
It's always good to know where your position is strong, and where it's weak. What questions Creationists are still trying to answer, as well as the weak points (Achilles Heel) of Darwinian Evolution, etc. Very good, very interesting stuff.

Ok, ignore that part. I think we all know that when they go too deep into one passage of Scripture, you need to take it with a grain of salt. We all need to have common sense and be able to filter.

When they start talking about religion specifically, I tune out a bit, because let's face it, they are Protestant. I only pay attention when they are defending Creationism.

As I've said a million times, if you restrict your education (reading, articles, watching videos, tutorials) to those produced by Traditional Catholics who attend your same Trad group and agree with you on every topic -- I hope you have many other hobbies! (might I suggest Ham Radio, gardening, survivalism?)

Because your bookshelf will have 1 or 2 books on it, and you won't have anything to watch.

Actually, even if you wanted to master secular topics like ham radio or gardening, you're going to be learning from all kinds of new age, atheists, agnostics, protestants, etc. because they know gardening or ham radio (ONLY), even if they don't know jack about God or the True Religion.

  • If you only buy from Trad Catholics, you will starve and be homeless, naked, with no material goods or tools.
If you only read books from Trad Catholics, you will have no books.
If you only watch videos/movies from Trad Catholics, you will watch no videos.
If you insist on Trad Catholic professors, you will attend no classes.

    See the pattern?

Trads are a thin sliver of the population, and most of them are wage-slaving away for "the man", NOT producing any content or goods to sell personally. Nor are they in prominent jobs like Professor or run prominent Youtube channels teaching this or that. Most Trads are lacking in such worldly ambition.

There just aren't enough Trads, and most of them aren't entrepreneurs, authors, or producers of content. There are probably only a few dozen such Trads worldwide. CathInfo has had 6,908 members past and present, and how many have written a book? Just Sean Johnson, that I know of. Are there ANY prominent Youtube channels on any topic at all, run by Trad Catholics? How many businesses are run by Trads? Now divide that into the number of small businesses in the United States: 30.2 million.

The video doesn't talk much about Creationism per se. What it talks about is largely Protestant "young earth creationism" and its associated "creation science".

I'm not sure most teens are sufficiently equipped to filter the good from the bad in that. What do you think would happen if someone believed that video was mostly right, and then took a college class in geology or biology? I would expect a crisis of faith, likely resulting in rejecting one or the other.

An over-reliance on a narrow niche of thought is one of the reasons trad children abandon traditionalism when they get older. So I also suggest reading and learning from a variety of sources. On this topic, one might find there is some merit to old earth creationism.
