A Texas woman faces felony charges after she toss a crude Molotov cocktail at a group of pro-life activists holding a prayer vigil outside an abortion clinic.

Melanie Maria Toney was arrested near the South Austin Planned Parenthood clinic on March 23, after she threw the homemade bomb at a group of people participating in a “40 Days for Life” prayer vigil. One of the pro-lifers was able to stamp out the fuse, disabling the bomb; no one was hurt.

No major national news outlet mentioned the attempted bombing. One local report said that the bombing had occurred at the Planned Parenthood clinic-- conveying the impression that the abortion facility was the target, rather than the pro-lifers.

Questioned about the attack on pro-lifers, a spokesman for Planned Parenthood said: “Planned Parenthood does not believe violence gets us anywhere.”

Any idea on the motiviation of the attacker?  I noticed the person arrested is a woman.  Women generally aren't bombmakers (real bombs that explode, women often drop figurative "bombs" all the time.).  She was probably just the one they sent out to do the attack.  

Not just motivation but who was the ringleader?

These were precisely my thoughts when I read Capt's comment. Many of today's women are like men. She could well be doing it on her own initiative, tho Capt could be right as well. It was good to see that she was prosecuted. Such prosecutions are rare, I believe.
