    • Ash Wednesday = Mandatory fasting and abstinence from meats.

    • Matthew got some practice for this in December when he had to attend a business gathering at an all-you-can-eat Brazilian steakhouse on a Friday. He reported that the fish there was... fishy.

    • Tell him to stick to the salads :)  Most steakhouses make pretty darn good salads!

    I'd say, "Get a doggie bag," but they don't let you take those out of buffet spreads, usually.
    (I knew a Great Depression survivor who used to put food in her purse!)

    We have Korean BBQ all-you-can-eat buffets in L.A., where they charge about $20 for lunch, but you're not allowed food to go, and if you leave food at your place they weigh it and you get to pay extra $10 a pound for leftovers.

    Chinese chicken salad!
    Greek salad (MUST have goat feta cheese, kalamata olives, Greek dressing, Romaine lettuce, cucuмbers)
    Cheeses should include Gouda, Munster, Swiss, Brie, Gorgonzola, or it's cheap.

    • This morning, we went out to breakfast and had chip beef.  I had scrapple too.  Instead of potatoes, I had sliced cucuмbers with tizki dip.  

    No lunch.  Will be going out to Chinese buffet with friends for dinner.   

    Our new Pastor told us to fast on Ash Wednesay and to celebrate St Valentine's Day this past Friday, Saturday, SUnday, Monday or today which is Fat Tuesday.   

    Tomorrow, we are fasting.  We are going to Mass and getting our ashes. 

    My problem is portions.  I'm going to make this our best Lent ever.

    • Well, we didn't do Chinese Buffet.  
    My husband was too busy with work. Then he grossed me out by reminding of the people coughing and hacking at buffets.

    • By Jєωιѕн time, the new day begins at sunset, so it's technically St. Valentines Day. That means you have had about 6 hours to party until the fasting commences by Western standards.

    As for me, I'm going to pull out some leftover, cold, homegrown steak and eat it with cold BBQ sauce.... T.T.Y.L!
