We need more insane asylums.

LOL. There are not enough highly skilled, mentally balanced, psychologically sane people to look after the insane. FACT. It's exhausting, draining work dealing with these kinds of sick and perverted people, been there, done that, and then some. And these ones were tame in comparison to some of the sickos out there! (The serial killers, killers of kids, etc.) I looked after the garden variety nutbars, if you will with a few really twisted ones in the mix.

It takes a special kind of compassion and grace to be able to deal with psychiatric patients for any length of time. Believe me. It can be very rewarding, and very frustrating. You have to have an ability to cope with a lot of things.

Gallows humour helps. But it is draining also keeping constant boundaries and distance. A lot of people were sɛҳuąƖly abused as children, and this doesn't help one bit. Children cannot process trauma. It very often comes out later in life with another traumatic event that opens the old wounds of the mind--because then the adult can better understand what happened to them.
