Another reason to avoid mainstream Social Media

  • I came across a screenshot of someone's Discord profile, and it shocked me a bit to see right after the avatar and name, were the person's "pronouns".
In this case it was (he/him). Which means that it's not optional, something the freaks can include, but rather EVERYONE has to put in their "preferred pronouns".

Imagine going to sites like this every day for years. What is that brainwashing going to do to you?

I'm accustomed to sites putting your GENDER close by your avatar/name, as it IS a quite important part of who you are (actually, instead of Gender, the more proper term is SEX, because gender is by definition ARBITRARY like "pen" being feminine in Spanish, but I don't want to get off track). CathInfo puts a symbol (male, female) in the left hand side of every post -- by the poster information.

But by putting PRONOUNS instead, it pushes this new agenda of gender spectrum, gender confusion, infinite genders, all that BS. If you want to know if I'm a man or a woman, fine. But don't ask me "When did you stop beating your wife?". I refuse to answer that question. It's begging the question. I deny the whole premise for custom pronouns. I will only say that I'm a man, which means that, in English, my pronouns HAVE TO BE "he" and "him".

Do ALL social media do this? I haven't see it on Facebook yet, at least not in any official, automatic, or mandatory way. Letting people put a tagline for themselves, which SOME will use to put their pronouns, is a whole different story. I think Twitter does this. You get a 140 character summary of yourself which appears in a prominent place. Many leftists make sure to include their "pronouns" even if they're the normal ones -- to show they're a so-called "ally" to the LGBT alphabet soup.

P.S. You can call CathInfo "social media" if you insist; it's a free country. In the BROAD sense, it is social media. But in my opinion, it's more of an old-fashioned forum. Just for starters, CathInfo's field of operation isn't the whole world and everybody, like Facebook or Discord. And it certainly isn't so large that it must cater to things like "personal pronouns". Most important of all, it's not MAINSTREAM social media, and 100% of mainstream social media companies are completely leftist.

  • How Is My iPhone Changing Me? Neuroscience and Thomistic Psychology | Prof. Joshua Hochschild

I recently listened to this podcast, and it is outstanding.  From the description:

"Demons assault us by the same mechanism and for the same reason as the ever adapting and insidious algorithm, in order to explore this inward disposition of man, to discern susceptibility to habits, and then by manipulating attention, to develop those habits. This sober realization paradoxically is the source of hope. Neither spiritual demons nor digital algorithms can directly violate our intellect and will. They seek them, but they can never possess them without our consent. The defense against the new dark arts of Silicon Valley thus relies on the same tools as ancient spiritual warfare, especially custody of our attention. Of course, demons attack weaknesses. Virtues have been called the spiritual armor protecting us from assault and it is vice that makes us vulnerable. But even here, demons need opportunity to attack. Advising Wormwood on effective methods of temptation, Screwtape warns against letting his target engage in basic exercises of will and reason: going for a walk, reading a book, even asking questions. These are all powerful human defenses against the distractions of the devil. Individual acts of thinking and choosing for oneself, exercising self-awareness and taking responsibility for one's actions and thoughts—the distinctive activities of the rational animal—are all safeguards against the soul-snatcher's designs." —Prof. Joshua Hochschild

  • I have gotten banned on discord 3 times now. I remember speaking to a Philosophy professor at church and he told me that if a student were to tell him their preferred pronouns he'd just be like "Yeah you have favorite pronouns but I have no obligation to honor them for the same reason I don't have to wear blue because blue I'd your favorite color."

  • It's worth noting that Discord has servers where trannies dig up dirt on people and "force fem" young men - They blackmail them into taking hormones or get them to kill themselves. Discord should be avoided period because the platform is fundamentally Marxist. There are tons of good encrypted messengers out there so no reason to use it really.  Who knows what else Discord sucks up from your PC as it is just a huge proprietary blob with read/write permissions.
Regard all of my posts as unfounded slander, heresy, theologically specious etc

  • I apologise if this seems to be a dumb question/observation. As someone who currently uses discord for the facilitating of/discussion in some online classes, I had not noticed when signing up for discord nor when customizing ones profile that pronouns were required. Though many people I have seen did indeed have theirs listed right below their profile and avatar, it still seemed to be a choice, albeit one that most almost all people decided to include. Perhaps it's a different 'mode' of discord, such as work/school/for fun, and other modes require them, but I haven't had experiences with being required to include my pronouns in my profile, or even have them listed anywhere. In fact, I currently don't have them listed at all and haven't gotten into any trouble or anything over that. Then again, I only am in a couple servers related to classes, and that is it. No big public servers or anything like that where they might be stricter about those things.

  • I should add:

Even sites like Twitter and Facebook, which don't require everyone to display their "preferred pronouns" front and center, STILL are extremely liberal platforms, and many of the denizens of these platforms spew not only "preferred pronouns" but countless errors and -isms. (feminism, marxism, naturalism, atheism, science-ism, etc.)

So you will soak up errors if you're impressionable, young and/or not careful enough. All sorts of errors -- even the "gender confusion" error, since many liberals preach this error from the housetops, and they are on ALL mainstream, popular social media platforms.

Excuse my being very untech savvy, but are you saying that people have taken poisonous hormones and committed ѕυιcιdє irl because of what others, presumably unknown in reality, have written on line?  The only way I can explain this happening is for the victim’s sense of self to have never developed beyond the point of a toddler who is unable to differentiate between fantasy and reality.  If someone I don’t actually know corresponds with me online in a manner I find objectionable, I delete and block them.  End of the matter.  If need be, “vanish!”  Stay off that site and don’t use that email or number.  (Better yet, don’t give out your personal phone no. or email address.  Have addresses for actual, irl friends, business, casual friends, and one for on-line only.).

  • I'm wondering why a Catholic would want to participate in Social Media--such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. in the first place?  Let alone something with a name like "Discord".  Hardly sounds conducive to your spiritual well-being.  And they all tend to have a "Look at ME!  Look at how WONDERFUL I am!" promotion; ie: Pride, one of the 7 deadly sins.

I agree with Matthew; CathInfo is more of a forum for the discussion of religious and world matters; with a few light topics thrown in.  Most social media platforms seem to be to promote the idea of an individual's popularity or sense of self.
