  • All discussion of those topics is to be kept in that subforum ONLY.

    Whoo-hoo![×]

    <https://www.cathinfo.com/the-earth-god-made-flat-earth-geocentrism/>.

    Still some issues with the implementation, it appears:
    Quote from: SMF CathInfo
    An Error Has Occurred!
    The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.

    This is a tragedy!

    But while it's useless for CathInfo readers to bookmark that subforum, allowing revision of its URL, what's with these SMF topic URLs that stretch to obnoxious lengths by retaining noise words like "the" (and their separators "-"), which practically never affect the sense of the URL, and which are omitted according to prevailing programming customs?

    I remember the MercuryBoard implementation of CathInfo failing to include significant numbers expressed in digits, and some words critical to the sense of the topic, e.g., "no" and "not" and negative contractions, but SMF goes waaay too far in the opposite direction.

    Which reminds me: Why does the new URL contain needless redundancy, i.e., 2 instances of the word "earth"?

  • Patience.

    It's created as a child forum under "Fighting Errors", but this is the first subforum created since moving to the new software and it clearly isn't working as expected. Troubleshooting takes much more time and the only programmer around here isn't presently available.

    I doubt the shape of the planet will change much while you're waiting.

    Why is it in a "child forum?"
    "It is licit to resist a Sovereign Pontiff who is trying to destroy the Church. I say it is licit to resist him in not following his orders and in preventing the execution of his will. It is not licit to Judge him, to punish him, or to depose him, for these are acts proper to a superior."

  • I think that's what the software calls it. A section within another subforum ... like the "Buy Sell Trade" under General Discussion.

    So there isn't any control over what the software decides to call a subforum?

    .
    No, not unless you have lots of time on your hands. It's only referenced like that in the admin settings. The name of the forum is "The Earth God Made".

  • I fixed it.

    For future reference (for myself):
    There's
    1 = Male
    2 = Female
    3 = Either

    This new board was set to "0"...

    'twas a simple fix, once I looked at the database behind the scenes.

  • Flat earth seems be causing a few problems.
    Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
    Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • A "child forum"?
    .
    .
    What is that supposed to mean?
    .
    .
    Nvm, I see what it means now. What an unfortunate bit of "terminology." Oh well.

    .
    It's not capable of causing any real problems, but it certainly does make particular Catholics look stupid.
    .
    Anyone can see by observing the moon that the earth isn't "flat." It's not rocket science.
    .
    The next time earth gets pounded with a big CME all the flat-earthers will have to come up with hundreds of crazy explanations.
    .
    Like the hundreds of conflicting fables they've dreamed up already about what the sun is, what the moon is and the time zones.

    .
    For someone ostensibly reliant on Scripture it's super strange you'd have a problem with being relegated to a "child forum."
    .
    Maybe you don't really pay that much attention to what Scripture says after all.
    .
    Your feigned reverence for Holy Writ is just for appearances, eh?

  • I can't believe TWO members were so defensive as to take offense at what the software (SimpleMachines, probably the largest and most popular free open-source message board software in 2017) calls a subforum ("child board")

    As a programmer, I use the term parent/child literally every day to refer to an object which is part of, or belongs to, another object. It's a neutral, unoffensive computer term.

    Need I point out that this software has been used on CathInfo since Lent of this year? From the very beginning, we have had SEVERAL "child boards" and no one took offense to the term. But as soon as Flat Earth is placed in a "child board", watch out!

    It shows how much you've been fighting (or enjoy fighting?) when you're that trigger happy, let me tell you! You're like a Vietnam vet who has flashbacks, PTSD, and/or has to sleep with the lights on.

    Or like something out of a comedy -- a military nut who accidentally blows a big hole in his front door just because a stray cat startled him. People laugh AT such types!
