  • Is there any prominent work that refutes the claims that certain books of the Bible were works of forgery, or ascribed to people they shouldn't have been ascribed to? How are we, as Catholics to respond to this. I'd like to be able to refute this with evidence.

Maybe Stephen would know this, considering his background... You areound SF?

It's a difficult topic.  You might want to read some old Catholic encyclopedia articles, for example, this one on Buddhism:

    http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/03028b.htm

(the part where it compares Buddhism and Christianity.

check out some articles in Arthur Preuss's fortnightly review (that will require a lot of hunting around), and check these links:

Since the Novus Ordo hierarchy started accepting modern criticism (ie modernism) of the Bible there aren't many Catholic apologists for the historical accuracy of the Bibles.  That's why they say such things like:

“The pagan creation accounts on which the biblical story is in part based end without exception in the establishment of a cult, but the cult in this case is situated in the cycle of the do ut des.”

"Christ's miracles do not prove His messianic dignity."

I want to know how this cannot be considered manifest heresy?

mhfm has the citations.  I'm pretty sure they're legit quotes.
