My apostate cousin (who was raised Traditional Catholic, at least from the time he was ten years old) used to LOVE the humor and acting of Jim Carrey.
It's interesting that both of them are still "dating" -- Jim Carrey at the age of 57, and my cousin at the age of 42. They were each married for "a few years" and Jim Carrey has 1 child, my cousin has 2 children. They both live like atheists, completely without religion. They both turned to humor -- the self-deprecating variety -- to help them deal with their difficult past, family situation, etc. My cousin for example never met his father. He was in and out of countless schools, living in cars, etc. before he moved in with my grandmother around age 10. I don't know what Jim Carrey's deal is, but I bet he has something in his past as well.
With all due respect to the good Catholics out there who are still bachelors in middle age or beyond, this is COMPLETELY different. When you have high standards and aren't married yet -- that's one thing. It can be difficult to find a God-fearing Catholic woman, who believes in modesty, the authority of the husband, who is willing to have all the children God sends, etc.
But when you've opened up your options to ALL FEMALES aged 18-45, and you still can't find a partner to commit to (and who will commit to you), whether that be shacking up or marrying -- I'm sorry, but there's something wrong with YOU. There have to be personal issues with commitment, maturity, selfishness, etc.
