Update: The Huffington Post assessed the "dramatic toll" that recent pro-life laws have taken on abortion clinics, with Arizona leading the way. Meanwhile, the abortion battle has gone digital as more states ban abortions by telemedicine.
CT has examined the new pro-life surge in-depth.
    -----
(BP) For Abby Johnson, the closing of a single Planned Parenthood center demonstrated her dramatic reversal from abortion clinic director to leading pro-life advocate.
But for pro-lifers throughout the United States, it marked another exhibit in a hopeful trend—abortion centers are shutting down at an unprecedented rate. The total so far this year is 44, according to a pro-life organization that tracks clinic operations.
None was more telling for Johnson than the mid-July closing of the Planned Parenthood center in Bryan, Texas. It came less than four years after Johnson, burdened by her involvement with abortion, walked out of that clinic as its director and into the offices of the Coalition for Life.
"Knowing that the former abortion clinic I once ran is now closing is the biggest personal victory of my life," Johnson said in a written statement after the announcement of the shutdown. "From running that facility, to then advocating for its closure, and now celebrating that dream ... it shows that my life has indeed come full circle."
Since her celebrated conversion from Planned Parenthood director, Johnson has started a ministry to help workers leave the abortion industry. She has pledged, as she said in July, to "fight until every abortion clinic in this country has shut its doors."
This year, 42 clinics that provided surgical abortions have shut their doors, and two that offered chemical abortions by drugs also have closed, according to Operation Rescue, which monitors closings and health and safety violations by clinics nationwide. That number far surpasses the 25 surgical clinics shutdown last year and the 30 in 2011, by Operation Rescue's count. While others estimate a smaller number of closings, the pattern is clear.
Some of the shutdowns have been of major clinics. For instance, Virginia's No. 1 abortion provider closed, The Washington Post reported in July. NOVA Women's Healthcare in Fairfax, Va., shut down after state and local governments enacted regulations the abortion provider appeared unable to meet. The northern Virginia clinic performed 3,066 abortions in 2012 and 3,567 in 2011.
The reasons given for the upswing in closings are varied even among pro-lifers. They include:
    -- the increasing state regulation and oversight of clinics;
-- a growth in pro-life opinion and activity, and
-- a significant decline in the abortion rate.
In some cases, clinics have shut down when abortion doctors retired or were no longer licensed.
State legislatures enacted 69 pro-life laws this year, according to a report released Thursday (Sept. 5) by Americans United for Life. In all, 48 states considered about 360 such proposals in 2013, AUL reported.
The legislative action this year continued a recent trend in states: 70 "life-affirming measures" became law in 2011 and 38 in 2012, according to AUL.
Some measures have targeted making the procedure and clinics safer for women, and have helped escalate the number of clinic shutdowns. This year, states such as Alabama, North Carolina and Texas passed varied laws either requiring abortion clinics to meet the same health and safety standards as outpatient surgical centers, or authorizing the state to enforce such requirements. Also, in 2013, North Dakota and Wisconsin joined Alabama and Texas in mandating abortion doctors have admitting privileges at local hospitals.
Editor's note: Read the full Baptist Press article here. CT has previously reported on abortion clinic restrictions and legislation restricting abortion. CT also covered pro-life groups exposing abortion practices and how pro-lifers are winning the abortion battle.

  • In the news, it gave a reason why abortion clinics are (appearing) to close.  With global health care it puts the money in other places.  Therefore the clinics will be in public entities.  For example: hospitals, community clinics.  This has been in the plans for over 20 years.  So, the health care that we are fighting and have no voice in has been slowly put into place for at least 20 years that I know.  (I read the Federal Grants under governor Mecham for the state of AZ in the early 90's).  Every school must be linked to a hospital.  So, you may see new ones sprouting up.  Hospitals are going to one bed per room.  All businesses are paying into the health care.  Let's say you are connected to a grocery store chain and are one of the dinosaurs still receiving medical ins. benefits.  Those will die off, or you will see the medical cost soar and less benefits as the businesses slowly go into the health care.
Schools must have linked or based clinics and when linked, school buses will bus the student/child to appointments.  We have had as young as 18 months on buses and as old as just 21.

the abortion is not going away.  Lifesitenews as given impressions or their news people or resources have given us the miss info that abortion clinics are closing and we the prolife had something to do with it.  Sad to say that is not the case.

You can find more info by googling words like "School-based clinics,"  there is a National Clearinghouse for Youth health care.  Every state has a book, of all the clinics for their state.  Just try getting one!  To get one, they, the state, can ask all kinds of questions like: "WHO ARE YOU?"  That was what I got for the state of AZ in the mid 90's.  These books have all the who, what when where  and how under each clinic.  Who supports, pays into it and etc.  Boy, would you be surprised or maybe not.  Don't be surprised if you see catholic (new Order) involved.  Because the new order is so established, she is used to implement agenda's of the federal gov't and has for a good 50 years.

I don't want to spoil anyone's party, but songbird has described what is happening in NYC and metro area.  Traditional abortion mills such as Planned Parenthood are closing.  In their place are public hospitals and clinics connected to schools, corporations, "healthcare providers" formally known as "medical insurance companies."  These are all run by the federal and state government.  Opting out of the system is nearly impossible except for groups of people who have never taken part over the course of it's development.  (Examples, Old Order Amish, Hutterites)  Young adults and teens, especially, ARE having fewer abortions such as defined by the pagan world.  What God calls abortion is WAY up.  Young women are much "smarter" than in former times so as to get pregnant.  They're taught in school from the youngest age how to "prevent" pregnancy, and are given time during school hours without academic penalty to visit school-based clinics where they can get birth-control, most of it aborteficiant,  free of charge.  If they think they may have "goofed" they can get Plan B.  Unless specifically forbidden by parents, children on Medicare or whose families receive government funds are given exams, immunizations, medical tests, eyeglass and dental treatment without parental knowledge or consent.  Many parents think this is a good thing, having "the government" administer their child's medical care, relieving them of the responsibility.
Those of us not so fortunate to belong to the Amish or certain Native American tribes, (also exempt), have no choice but to patronize and pay for  medical facilities that violate the fifth, sixth, and ninth Commandments, or to pay for them, but decline medical care.  It is one thing to decline care for oneself, but try it with children and see if CPS doesn't take them away.  Catholics are in this predicament because of the increasing silence, inaction, and cowardice of the American bishops for nearly a century.

  • Thank You Frances for your reply.  Can you imagine a school bus taking a young lady for an abortion in the morning and returning home in the afternoon and no parent would know. Very sad.

I am reading a book by Fr. Muller written in 1872 and it is in paperback now called Public School Education.  wow, Fɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყ started the system and continues it today.  The whole idea to keep religion out of the picture.  And so we have it continuing.

In Glendale,AZ the school district hired a firm to monitor students computer activities.  That is very near to my area.  Now I wonder how they are being paid.  State or Federal.  Is it just the activities in the school?  Hm?

But when it comes to the clinics, once you see all those organizations, and businesses who pay into them, then you start to see the Giant.  Since they are the ones putting the system together, we have no voice.  It used to be we  could boycott or even better, the Catholic Church would have a strong influence, they don't, they lost that decades ago!  In fact, the new order is "the" enemy who supports abortion in those catholic so-called charities.  When the church said yes to moscow, they gave themselves over and supported the agenda of the masons.  They said yes to the Devil.  Very sad.  Chapter 12 of Daniel says it the way is and we are not far from the end of the sacrifice of the mass as stated there.  It is the powers of the Precious Blood that is needed and the enemy knows it.  That is why the new order is where it is and the world is the way it is.  Many Prayers!

  • I remember years ago when there was a mass killing at a McDonald's in San Ysidro, California.  The city bulldozed the place.  I think they made it a park or set up something like a memorial.

I would like to see something similar with these clinics.

  • In NYC, many of the clinics are IN the schools, especially the larger high schools in poor areas.  No school bus is necessary.  Besides, the only students who ride school buses here are below 6th grade.  Then you get a student metro-card which can be used to track students' whereabouts.  It must be registered with the DOE.  Many schools issue tablets, laptops for student use.  If you take it home, which is the idea, mainly for low-income students who don't have access to technology, you've just invited the NYC-DOE into your house.
If one knows where to look, the private information of every NYC public school student is on-line.

  • Frances:  Have you heard about "Core Curriculum"?  If anyone has I would like to know more.  Tracking of Students through biometrics, fingerprints, measuring of eye pupils for reactions as they use computers.

Does anyone recall the movie of Pokey man or something similar that was shown on the big screen maybe 20 years ago where a cartoon character had on his belly lights going round and round.  It was stated that it was about 2/3rd through the movie that this was displayed.  News stated that about 2/3 rds of the movie goers walked or ran out of the theater sick to their stomachs.  The point here is the mind controls that can take place so easily by watching such things without our knowledge.
