I'm not catholic. I don't believe I have to go through a priest for God to forgive me. I ask him directly. My sins are between God and me. And no business of a priest. And I also think it's sinful for a catholic to have to pay money to the  church if he or she sins. as far as I'm concerned the catholic  church is a cult

This is not a joke, a parody, or a hypothetical person. This is the belief of a real human being -- probably several. But one in particular who spoke these words.

    Poor deluded soul.

  • YouTube or Reddit?
Regard all of my posts as unfounded slander, heresy, theologically specious etc
I accept Church teaching on Implicit Baptism of Desire.
    Francis is Pope.
    NO is a good Mass.
    Not an ironic sig.

    Poor deluded soul.

MANY people leave the Church because they don't want to confess to a priest, so they readily imbibe the Prot propaganda to that effect.  That second part about paying was probably just additional propagand layered on top about paying for indulgences.

  • Most Protestants believe these lies, especially if they’ve grown up surrounded by it, haven’t been to college, live in the rural south, or traveled outside their comfort zones.

"haven't been to college"?  Surely you don't believe college dispels these falshoods.

Not the college, but meeting real life Catholics, whether good or bad, dispels such falsehoods.  Sadly, though, I know Catholics in name only who practice no faith or who have become Protestant, who believe crazy stories!  And then there are those who believe whatever they want to believe despite proof otherwise.

  • Here is what people in our area think of Catholics:  That most of our clergy are pedophiles and liberals.  They say that Bergolio is the anti Christ.  Sad but it is the truth where we are from. How many times we were asked if my husband’s late brother was a sodomite.

We are embarrassed to be Catholic.  All these years of anti Catholicism and the Church lets us down.  Can’t even watch Notre Dame football now a sodomite and heretic friendly “Catholic University.

It was Catholics in USA who pushed and legalized abortion and same sex marriage.

May God bless you and keep you

Was this written 500 years ago? If anything, I know for a fact that some Lutheran churches will kick you out if you don't pay enough of a tithe. This happened to my manager a couple of months ago, the pastor showed up to their house and told them to go to a different church because he believed she wasn't contributing enough of a tithe. :laugh1:

When a Pope says that the Ten Commandments are not absolutes, and enables the worship of a pagan fertility idol, he needn't expect people not to come to such conclusions.

I don't claim he is the Antichrist, but if some outside the Church do, for these reasons, it comes as no surprise to me.

Again, I'd love to see him have to sit down with fundamentalist leaders and try to defend these points, saying, "you see, I'm right, and you're wrong, because.... dot-dot-dot...." .  (His spotty command of English would make this difficult, but you get the point.)

Catholics have no idea how easily they get by when it comes to church donation.  The Baptist church across the street from me, demands to see your tax returns, to see if you're tithing or not.  (I don't know if that's net or gross.  I'm pretty sure the Mormons demand 10% of gross.  Ouch!)

One reason we didn't go to church growing up (I was not raised Catholic), was that the "good", "downtown", "society" Protestant churches wanted more money than we could give, and the smaller, less-affluent, "rednecky" churches in the town, and out in the county, were emotional, unrefined, and were more like little cliques where they wanted to be "up in your business", even if their financial demands were more modest.  I thank God that I came to Catholicism pretty much as a blank slate.
