John and Mary were the most popular names of the 1890s.
Mary remained the most popular girls name until Vatican II. John number one until the 20s and remained in the top 5 until the 1970s.
John and Mary are my parents names.
What's also disturbing is that my best friend named his son Jacob. He almost named his girl Isabella.
