  • Don't understand the aim of this post. Are you saying flu shots are bad? I just took Granny to the doctor on Tuesday to get a flu shot. She gets one every year because she is so old.

  • The key point is that receiving the shot is voluntary.

First responders do need training to simulate what they may possibly face in reality, and plans written down on paper, do need to be tested in real life context...  I never had a flue shot, I very rarely go to the doctor even when I'm sick, mostly out of negligence. I would take the shot if it was readily available and felt comfortable with the process.

    Edited.

  • I met someone who experienced a serious side effect from a flu shot -- PERMANENT VERTIGO!

Especially at night, he had to have someone walk him back to his camper (I met him at a boys' camp I was helping with, when I was a seminarian)

He's the father of a wonderful Catholic family. His son was my classmate in the seminary. He is the one who told me about what happened to his father.

Vaccines of all kinds are dangerous -- there is almost never a need for them. It is best to avoid them altogether.

"I've been practicing for 40 years, and in the past 10 years the children have been sicker than ever."--Dr Doris J.Rapp, pediatric allergist.

And guess what? They're getting more vaccines all the time. According to the doctors, that should that make us practically immortal and impervious to disease. Why all the autism, asthma, ADD, and other disorders? None of those disorders were that prevalent in, say, 1920.

"There is a great deal of evidence to prove that immunization of children does more harm than good."---Dr. J. Anthony Morris, former Chief Vaccine Control Officer and research virologist, US FDA

"The greatest lie ever told is that vaccines are safe and effective."----- Dr. Len Horowitz

"The only safe vaccine is a vaccine that's never used."--Dr James A Shannon, US National Institutes of Health.

  • ChantCD,

While it is true that vaccines can have some side effects, the more important question is whether the risks outweigh the benefits.  In the case of the flue shot,  those who might think that a simple flue could be a matter of grave importance, like older folks with weaker fighting strength,  a good argument can be made for their case. A healthy person not wanting to be inconvened by the flue has a weaker case.

A case can also be made that some kids can forgo vaccination for important illnesses, but that is because the environment in which they live is fairly safe since others have had proper vaccination.  All you need to do is visit poor countries with no vaccination programs (and poor health care, I concede) to see that people still die, or are gravely ill from long eradicated illnesses like the measle.

Hopefully, people take their medical advice with good doctors they thrust, not on Internet boards and web pages from the vitamin crowd.
