By contrast, the 1982 "West" German World Cup Team:

You'd never mistaken them for anyone but GERMANS. While Pro "Football" (aka "Soccer") has gone mercenary, where anyone of any nationality go to the country whose team are the "highest bidder" for their talents, at least the World Cup used to be about "national pride". How proud can the "French" be that there's only one actual French guy on their entire team?
Here's the (West) German lineup:
Harald Schumacher
Manfred Kaltz
Bernd Förster
Karlheinz Förster
Hans-Peter Briegel
Wolfgang Dremmler
Uli Stielike
Paul Breitner
Pierre Littbarski
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge
Klaus Fischer
Yeah, you'd never mistake these guys for anything other than Germans (with pictures to match).
Rummenigge used to be my favorite player as I was growing up.
