Rather than attempt to speculate about the real contents of the 3rd secret of Fatima
I am trying to understand why it was even imparted to Sister Lucia in the first place
since Our Lady would have known it would never see the light of day and instead
be subject to all manner of conjecture.
Clearly the authentic Marian apparitions and their subsequent messages are intended to
help in our salvation. Therefore are we to believe that the freemason squatters in 
the Vatican are able to circuмvent the Queen of Heaven's intentions?
I don't get it.
Given the magnitude of the apostasy which was about to unfold courtesy of Roncalli and
his ilk, why would they be entrusted to disclose the very message warning of their intentions?

It's very simple.  Our Lady also knew that some of the content would be leaked and serve as a consolation to those living through this crisis, to help them from losing faith in the Church.  She allowed it to come out that sometime around 1960 there would be an "apostasy that beings at the top".  Essentially, she was foretelling the Vatican II crisis in the Church, and she knew that at least that much would come out to console the faithful.

And it wasn't entrusted primarily to Roncalli.  Pius XI and Pius XII both had ample opportunity to perform the consecration of Russia, which would have averted the crisis foretold in the Third Secret.  I think that the Third Secret was primarily a message to the pope about what would happen if they did not perform the consecration, and secondarily she knew that enough of it would be leaked to console the faithful.  Pius XII famously said, "After me, the deluge." ... and yet failed to perform the consecration that would have prevented said deluge.  He knew it was coming because of the Third Secret and not due to some personal gift of prophecy.

I'm not talking about Malachi's leaks, but rather the one from Cardinal Ciappi, who read the Third Secret and stated that it's about an apostasy that begins at the top, and Padre Pio to Father Amorth stating that it's about a counter-Church being set up and it's more about the faith than about physical chastisements.

It's the old mystery of grace and free will that the Dominicans/Jesuits couldn't "solved".  God knows before we're born where we're going to be spending eternity, but he lets us go through life and make our choices anyway.

Cardinal Ciappi had read the Third Secret.

Cardinal Ciappi and Fr. James Viall of the Cleveland Diocese were friends. Ciappi's episcopal consecration was according to the doubtfully-valid 1968 rite.
