  • Because of the total undermining of the Catholic dogmas on Outside of the Church there is no Salvation (EENS), today the mindset of Catholics is that anyone that is nice, in the worldly sense, will get to heaven. This attitude is in direct contradiction to the reality always expressed through the centuries by all of the saints, that they themselves were going to hell because of their sinful lives. For the saints, it was not despair;  they just saw the reality that they were not at all worthy in any way to be saved. They knew that compared to spiritual perfection, they were cesspools, and they lived their lives with that mindset.

Today, every Catholic takes it for granted that they are good and that they will go to heaven.  That is a foundational pillar of the Vatican II revolution.

The difference between a traditionalist who LIVES the Catholic faith and those that just call themselves traditionalist (those that go to mass just for the aesthetics, the beautiful marble, vestments, music, incense reverence…..) is the mindset of the saints vs. the mindset of the Vatican II revolution. Few Catholics today LIVE the faith.

They who are enlightened to walk in the way of perfection, and through lukewarmness wish to tread the ordinary paths, shall be abandoned. (Bl. Angela of Foligno)

They who are to be saved as Saints, and wish to be saved as imperfect souls, shall not be saved. (Pope St. Gregory the Great)

👍👍👍 I’ve always loved this quote!
For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?

  • Mr. Last Tradhican, what do you count as living a Catholic life? Please give some concrete suggestions from your experience.

Since it is November, the Month dedicated by the Catholic Church to the Holy Souls, and we just kept the Feast of All Saints and All Souls, one possible step we all could take to living a more Catholic life could be, to make or renew, either Total Consecration or the Act for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. The Church had granted Plenary Indulgences for it under Popes Benedict XIII (1728, Pius VI (1788, and Pius IX (1852).

The Prayer for the Act itself: “O MY GOD! for Thy greater glory, and to imitate as closely as possible the generous Heart of Jesus, my Redeemer, and also to testify my devotion to the Blessed Virgin, my Mother, who is also the Mother of the Souls in Purgatory, I place in her hands all my satisfactory works, as well as the fruit of all those which may be offered for my intention after my death, that she may apply them to the Souls in Purgatory according to her wisdom and good pleasure. Amen.”

The CE on the Act's Indulgences: "The Heroic Act has been enriched with numerous indulgences by Benedict XIII (1728 Pius VI (1788, and Pius IX (1852). Priests who make it receive the personal privilege of gaining a plenary indulgence for a soul of their choice each time they say Mass (see PRIVILEGED ALTAR). Laymen gain a similar indulgence each time they receive Holy Communion, also each Monday they hear Mass for the departed; in both cases the usual visit to a church and prayers for the intention of the pope are required." We should all try to make it, to live a more Catholic life.
"We wish also to make amends for the insults to which Your Vicar on earth and Your Priests are everywhere subjected [above all by schismatic sedevacantists - Nishant Xavier], for the profanation, by conscious neglect or Terrible Acts of Sacrilege, of the very Sacrament of Your Divine Love; and lastly for the Public Crimes of Nations who resist the Rights and The Teaching Authority of the Church which You have founded." - Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Lord Jesus.

This attitude is in direct contradiction to the reality always expressed through the centuries by all of the saints...
Reminds me of this snip from Fr. Feeney's, The Bread of Life:

"...If you think there is any salvation outside the Catholic Faith, you cannot save your own soul – even though you never told it to anybody! You cannot say: "I am not going to deny it orally, but I am not going to believe it inwardly."

You never could save your soul that way. You would be praying hypothetically. There would be a condition in your prayer, a proviso, a hold-back, a little limp in the wrong place. You would have a hidden suspicion in your mind that the Catholic Faith was not truly the way for you if you could have been saved without it in another situation.

If you think that people who live lives unmotivated by the true Faith, and who measure up to all that is best and sincere in themselves, get into Heaven by reason of that performance, it would take only the slightest bit of adjustment to see yourself as that person...."
"But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men." - Acts 5:29

The Highest Principle in the Church: "We are first of all under obedience to God, and only then under obedience to man" - Fr. Hesse

  • "My dear Jesus, before the Holy Trinity, Our Heavenly Mother, and the whole Heavenly Court, united with your most precious Blood and your sacrifice on Calvary, I hereby offer my whole life to the intention of your Sacred Heart and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  Together with my life, I place at your disposal all Holy Masses, all my Holy Communions, all my good deeds, all my sacrifices, and the sufferings of my of my entire life for the adoration and supplication of the Holy Trinity, for unity in our Holy Mother Church, for the Holy Father and priests, for good priestly vocations, and for all souls until the end of the world." https://marianapostolate.com/life-offering/

Striving for sanctity is more than just avoiding sin or error. Of course, to firmly hold the Catholic Faith and its necessity is the foundation of a strong Faith; but to arrive at a true and lasting sanctity, the Saints teach us that we must develop by many good works a very deep habitual love for God and neighbor, especially for the Poor Souls in Purgatory, others in need etc. That is what so signally distinguished the Saints from us sinners. Thus, we have St. John of the Cross say, "In the evening of life, we shall all be Judged on our love."

To me, those are just words, they go in one ear and out the other. I want to know how does that show in life? I've known Catholic fathers that didn't know who St. John of the Cross was, but they brought up daughters that were Catholic gems ready to marry and bring forth and raise holy children. On the other hand, I've known Catholc fathers that knew everything about St. John Of the Cross and they raised boy chasing airheads that were unwed mothers before they were 20.

Before one is an Olympic sprinter (St. John of the Cross) one must first learn how to walk. For every Olympic sprinter there are like 1 billion people. Speak to me about how Catholics should walk.

    God Bless

  • "O Lord, keep Thy hand this day over Philip, if Thou do not, Philip will betray Thee." ( St. Phillip Neri, his morning prayer)

One can see here an example in St. Philip Neri of the mindset of saints concerning salvation, Neri is acknowledging every day in his prayers the fact that without God's Grace, he is garbage. Imagine betraying the God that gives you your every breath! Only a lowest life would do such a thing, and yet Neri acknowledges the truth, that he is the lowest form of life were it not for God's Grace. There is scarcely a Catholic left today that thinks the correct way as St. Philip Neri, on the contrary, they think that they are so holy that God must accept them as they are or He is unjust.
