The important task in life is perhaps not to aim for heaven, but to aim for honor.

I've posted this before.  I hope someone would venture to comment on it.

  • This attitude seems to be very popular these days.  When various fractured Catholic groups claim authority which they do not possess, the temptation to save face rather than deal with problems becomes overwhelming.

Therefore, the striving to merit Heaven becomes less and less, as the problems pile one on top of another.

  • This person is hellbound if he continues to adhere to and teach the above nonsense.

Maybe he is just describing what he sees people do, not what he believes to be right. Yes, many people avoid sin because of it's dishonour not because of God's law.

I can send you a link to the context if you want.  No, he's not describing what he sees people do.  It's his opinion.

(The author and the deceased were both high school teachers of mine.)

The man he's describing was an openly deist assistant principle and history teacher at a "Catholic school."  This writing is on the school website.
