also, have a lot of latitude for SSPX, again, if you were alive in the early-mid 70's, you would understand better.Also, as you note, you are a fairly new Catholic, so forgive me if I say that a lot of us have lived through more and have our own predjudices in favor of SSPX....no one else really was visible through the yrs to resist mdoernism and save the TLM and practices like SSPX...whatever their faults and short comings...

Raoul, I remember talking to one of the nuns at the Mount, she was wavering if she should walk or not.  I told her then, doesn't it seem funny to you that when the "pope" says something Catholic, it makes the World News.  

She didn't walk, and I like to think I had a little to do with that, because she said, your right!  Although I know it was really Gods grace working within her.  

It is like all these bold statements that trickle out of New Rome these days. But by now we have acquired that gut feeling that a thing has not happened until it happens. Until it happens we live in fear that it will happen. When it does happen we say that things were moving in that direction.   This is now the traditionalist's way of thinking in both religion and politics. I call it resigned inevitability. No better shown up in Bp. Williamson's: the Church is finished!

Cracking down on something means a desire for something exists but at that instant it is not convenient. We almost automatically hear the words "for now" in any discouragement. No doubt the ordination of women will follow swiftly on the heels of a Theology of Women written by a crowd-pleasing successor of Ratzinger. Our expectations have certainly moved into a post-Church mode where the once unthinkable is going to be de rigueur. And it is soon going to be impossible to know what else to crack down on because everything will be permitted ..... except belief in the faith, of course.
