  •    How is it that the accusation of being a jansenist is so frequent? Those self-appointed popes with their websites and also some of the members here are labled as jansenists/calvinists by some others.

  • Roscoe doesn't have a clue what he's talking about when it comes to theology (as was shown by Belloc, re: Jansenism).  He appears to be lashing out in petty anger because he wants to hold onto the sin of getting high.  He has never answered (as far as I have seen) the question of how much pot he smokes and how often.

I doubt he will, because we will then learn that he is a truly chronic (i.e. immoderate) pot addict.

He can correct me if I'm wrong, or he can ignore me or lash out some more.

  •   I don't mean roscoe, just see how some priests or an entire trad movement and also those self-appointed popes are said to be jansenists.

Because the term has come to mean anyone who is rigourist as opposed to laxist...St John Cassian who held semi-pelagian views would be labelled a Jansenist today.

"Pope Augustine" isn't crazy, (in the sense of believing he's Pope) he's a liar.

It's quite simple: they don't know what they're talking about, and it's something they've heard.

Quoting saints they don't like: that's Jansenism to them.  It's a way of accusing people of not being Catholic because they actually are Catholic, it's that silly.
