No, sadly, especially in my area of the US, there are PLENTY of so-called 'charismatic prayer groups', some even under the umbrella of 'Padre Pio prayer groups'. He would have been ashamed of the way these people carry on and jabber like blue-jays instead of being reverent and SILENT before Our Lord in the Tabernacle.

One group near me got its start at our diocesan Cathedral, then actually went and FOUNDED a Novus Ordo parish 'church' a few years later, in the early 1970s. The original group still meets weekly at the Cathedral, albeit with no 'Mess' service. I think, occasionally, they have 'adoration' of their crackers in a monstrance, and they interrupt the 'presider' with their homina-homina-blah-blah-blah 'tongues' baloney.

St. Francis prayed (spontaneous prayers) in Italian, sometimes sang to Our Lord in French, and certainly prayed the Office, etc in Latin. No need for 'boogy boogy boo' mystical gibberish.

All of these cracked-up aberrations that are making the NO even more of a mockery than it was at the beginning are just more PURE, SIMPLE EVIDENCE that when there was

ONE LORD
ONE FAITH
and
ONE BAPTISM

in ONE CHURCH

for the ENTIRE WORLD,

there was peace, stability, order and GROWTH IN HOLINESS AND THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of people who were eventually canonized for their heroic sanctity.

Even in the midst of upheavals, scandals, even really rotten people acting as Pope, there were GIANTS of the Faith who proved that unswerving devotion to Our Lord, His Church and Our Lady was, is and ALWAYS WILL BE the thing that sanctifies us AND brings about the realization of God's Kingdom here on earth.

Come, Lord Jesus!

Holy Spirit, God Almighty, sanctify us in the Truths of Thy Holy Spouse, the Church.

St. Clare of Assisi, so devoted to Christ in the Holy Eucharist, pray for us.

St. Padre Pio, so persecuted by the skeptics of your age, pray for us.

St. Anthony of Padua, hammer of heretics, terror of Hell, pray for us.

Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar, have mercy on us.

I think the whole "Charismatic Renewal" thing is bunk, something brought into The Church from the outside (Protestanism).

It's just another Protestant thing ushered in by Vatican II and the Bogus Ordo.

Both St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas state that the gift of tongues was given for a time, to help the spread of The Church into other nations during it's early history but that this gift has ceased.

Tractates on the Gospel of John, 32 - St. Augustine
"Who in our day expects that those on whom hands are laid so that they may receive the Holy Spirit should forthwith speak with tongues....These signs were adapted to the times. For there behooved to be that betokening of the Spirit in all tongues to show that the Gospel of God was to run through all the tongues over the earth. But that thing was done for the betokening, and it has passed away."

This much is what I believe and that the "tongues" seen in the Charismatic Renewal are not from God.

It wasn't brought into the Church. The "Vatican Organization" Counterfeit church parallel structure assimilated its spirituality as a "viable option" for "Catholics" (Novus Ordites) who were so inclined.

The big fat phonies provided recourse to heresy for those who wanted it, in vulgar terms. :geezer:
