Who are the real Protestants?
Those who have taken the Lutheran Liturgy from the 1904 Lutheran Hymnal in the 1960s after Vatican II and are using it as the Novus Ordo.
How many of you have made a Search Retreat for young adults?
I made one, and at the end of this weekend retreat, there was a Last Supper or "agape service," but to this day, I do not know if it were supposed to be a Novus Ordo Mass or an Agape service.
Just before this service, we had a penance service, so it must have been one of the forms of Novus Ordo that Cardinal Mahony had approved. Or were the priests acting on their own without permission? :stare:
They called it an agape service, but they sang hymns from the Novus Ordo and said it was a re-enactment of the Last Supper. Tables were arranged in a U shape. We sat on both sides of the tables which were abutting each other on the ends only. The priest sat at the head table and passed around two huge loaves of home baked bread on each side. This delicious bread was made from whole wheat flour and honey, and we were told to break a large piece from it. Then the priest passed down on both sides of him two large carafes of wine from which we poured some into our plastic stemware.
At this point, I was totally confused, but sleep deprived and so, not of sound mind. Therefore, I just sat there not knowing whether to cry because of the lack of respect or to laugh at the absurdity of the moment. However, It was not a laughing matter. Deep down in my soul I was certain that this was just a charade, nothing more. How could Christ be present sacramentally?
