  • If someone were to use a Saint's name or something that a Saint said or wrote or did etc., for something bad, what would this be called?

For example, naming a spa or casino or night club or a bad company/business/etc. after a Saint's name or after a Saint's writing, like, "St. Paul's casino", or "St. Bonaventure's nightclub", what would this be called?

Would this be sacrilege, or profanity, or blasphemy, what would it be?

I know some people who are going to make a spa and some sort of "relaxation place" or something like that where immodesty and immorality will abound and it will be a be an occasion of sin, and they named it "The Mansions", after St. Teresa's book the Interior Castle!

They said some absurdity like "the stages of bodily purification resemble the mansions St. Teresa speaks the soul goes through" or something like that.

Obviously the one has nothing to do with the other and i find the whole thing abominable, but i don't know what exactly it would be.

The people doing this are apostate novus ordos who have been admonished about all that is going on right now.

  • I think that would be called sacrilege.

Sacrilege is a form of irreverence to sacred persons, places, and things. When the irreverence is verbal, is then called blasphemy.

If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • I also think sacrilege would be the correct term.

  •  :confused1:Both sacrilege and blasphemy?  Regardless, it is disgusting.  They should be ashamed.  I wouldn't want to be in their shoes on Judgment Day.  Do I guess correctly that these people are ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs opening a business to cater to others enslaved by the sin of perversion?  Many of these are allowed by God to add insult to injury, thus storing up wrath towards their own condemnation.  Which religion do perverts mock?  Not Jєωs, not Muslims, not pagans, not Protestants, only Catholics.  Unfortunately, there is probably no legal means of preventing this.  Catholics should be doing penance in reparation for this grave offends to one of God's friends.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

They aren't ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs, they are a married couple.

To clarify, what i am talking about is this married couple wanting to make a spa and some sort of condominiums. I think the main idea they had was just to make a spa and a resort focused on those kind of "body health" things and then they also thought of making cabins and things like that.

The idea of calling it "The Mansions" is really directed at the spa thing of course.

Are you saying a spa is a perverse thing?

These people have never even read The Interior Castle but are your typical novus ordo apostates.

I am sure the Saints would have used spas quite frequently if they had them available during their time. After a nice hot day in the Colosseum with the lions, why not freshen up!?  :scratchchin:

:guitar: It really depends, personally, I have never gone to those places just because it is near impossible to use them in a proper way without giving scandal. The whole issue would really depend if you are the only in there, or if there is only people of the same sex inside the spa etc... Since I have never been inside a spa I would hardly know  .

  •  :dancing-banana:I'm relieved to hear it is not a "gαy" spa such as those in my NY neighborhood. Nonetheless, it is in poor taste to call it after a spiritual book by a canonised saint.

I still think it would be sacrilege because it is an occasion of sin nonetheless, and in this case it has zilch to do with the Mansions.

Just like pharmacies being named after a Saint or the Virgin or even Jesus.

I have seen countless ones named "Infant Jesus Pharmacy" or "Pharmacy the Immaculate"  and yet they sell condoms and contraceptives etc.

The concept of consecrating your store to the Virgin or some Saint is in itself a good thing. Now to sell immoral things, while having the name of the Holy Angels/Saints/title of Our Lady is just abominable indeed.

  • It would be bad taste at first. But then it could be the means by which God could use to ccall someone to conversion.

Would naming a whorehouse "The Passion" in the hopes of effecting someone's conversion be a laudable thing then?
