Francis claims that Judas sincerely repented when he wanted to return the money ... without evidence; feeling guilty is not the same as repenting. It's the same guilt that led him to kill himself ... and when you kill yourself that's not true repentance but self-absorbed guilt. When Our Lord said that it would have been better for him had he never been born, that pretty much cements it, no? If Judas was saved, then this statement would be false.
I was under the impression that Judas's reprobation is known and "of the faith" from Jesus' words: "The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man shall be betrayed: it were better for him, if that man had not been born."
