  • OK, Pope Francis will be stepping down. What does this say about the prophesies of St. Malachy? Perhaps the prophesy was misunderstood? The prophesy may not matter, what matters is that we pray for a traditional pope to become the vicar of Christ to help restore the damage done. Let us pray for the Church to become stronger. God love you. †

  • A) I don't think Bergoglio would step down before this coming autumn synod, and B) It would look  incredibly suspicious if two popes resigned in the span of 24 months. So, no.

Just a bogus news story, mate...

Thanks. I couldn't find it anywhere.  So I think steelcross was posing a hypothetical, with confusing phrasing.

  • I would be very surprised if Pope Francis stepped down.  He lacks the true humbleness of Pope Benedict XVI.  They both were (are) a little fast and loose with the Catholic doctrine but Pope Francis makes a big public affair to show his humbleness but those guys are vicious cats behind closed doors.

If Pope Francis steps down, it would only be to set the precedent that the papacy is just a job like being CEO or head foreman and that one should retire when one feels like it.

  • That and if we get anyone from the West, barring about two or three people, it's likely that they'll be worse than Francis. There are some nefarious heretics and apostates among that lot.

  • According to the Prophecies of St. Malachy, Francis, or the Peter the Roman is the last
clament to the Papacy before the End of Time.
At the end of Francis reign, Rome will be destroyed, and the dreadful Judge will judge
his people, meaning the last Judgment.

What do you think of the renunciation of Benedict XVI?

Pope Benedict has made a very significant act. He has opened the door, has created an institution, that of the of the eventual popes emeritus.
70 years ago, there were no emeritus bishops. Today how many are there? Well, as we live longer, we arrive to an age where we cannot go on with things. I will do the same as him, asking the Lord to enlighten me when the time comes and that he tell me what I have to do, and and he will tell me for sure.

You have a room reserved in a retirement home in Buenos Aires.

Yes, its a retirement house for elderly priests. I was leaving the archdiocese at the end of last year and and had already submitted my resignation to Benedict XVI when I turned 75. I chose a room and said “I want to come to live here.” I will work as a priest, helping the parishes. This is what was going to be my future before being Pope.

The second answer could just mean he will retire at the Vatican instead (?)
The love of God be your motivation, the will of God your guiding principle, the glory of God your goal.

Yes, it is another freemasonic way to weaken the Papacy. Leveling the office of the Pope to another mere juridical "job". Part of the progressivist and egalitarian agenda is to completely demolish the Papal office as a Monarchy and install a more democratic type of Ecclesiastical government within the Church. Instead of the Pope being a Monarch then, he becomes more of a president and thus able to "retire" in old age. We are witnessing proofs of this agenda all over, this advance towards democratization (which consist of collegiality, synodality, etc). They want to destroy everything that is sacred, royal, and vehement and replace it with naturalistic, utilitarian, and leftists ideals. Very sad state of affairs, indeed.
If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • By all accounts Francis' health is worse than that of Benedict.

  • If the old Italian prophecy is correct then he won't step down at all....

"When the White Pope and the Black Pope shall die during the same night, then there will dawn upon the Christian nations the Great White Day."

Since Ratzinger is very old and Bergoglio is of very ill health, this seems like a very credible possibility.

Just a few years ago, no one could even fathom having two living popes, and yet here we are.  One of them is dressed in white and calls himself Emeritus and the other is Pope from the Black Robes---a Black Pope.

    Just a thought......

Very possible; I've long thought that this prophecy could refer to the present situation.

  • Firstly, I've read several critiques of the prophesies of St. Malachy that cast serious doubts about whether these prophesies are authentic.  Apparently, the evidence is that the prophesies appeared long after his death and may have been penned by someone who was trying to influence papal elections around the time they became known.  So I have never put much stock into these prophesies.

Secondly, I doubt very much that Bergoglio will step down any time soon.  I believe he believes he has a mission and that is to destroy any vestiges of the traditional Church.  He hates tradition, he hates Catholic doctrine, he hates unchangeable and irreformable dogma...in short, he hates that Catholic Church.  He's not going to leave us on his own accord anytime soon.

Besides, I think he intends to "reconcile" his church to the Lutherans before 2017.  And when he does, Voris, et. al., will praise him for bringing the Lutherans back into the Church while he will have actually formally declared the Church to be just another Protestant sect.  Maybe Bishop Fellay will finally see the light.

Could it be that the "prophesies" of St Malachy were a figment of his imagination?
