  • I would say that would be okay... especially if you're concerned about getting it wet after your bath. I don't think our Lady is as concerned with us wearing the same one as with fulfilling our duties to being enrolled to the brown scapular.

  • The shorter scapulars seem to survive water well.  No problem with having two that I could imagine.

They vary in quality.  I have one that's lasted 16 years, but it's really scratchy.  (the 5-fold scapular)

Have you been showering with that one?

  •   Sorry to be ignorant but I used to think that bringing a holy thing with yourself to the bathroom was blasphemous. Because (sorry again) bathroom is usually a place where you have a shower in one corner and a toilet in an other corner. So even when you are just taking shower, you are taking a holy object to a disrespectful place.

I think that's more of a islamic idea spouse.

S2srea is right. A Catholic should not think of the bathroom in terms of "clean" or "unclean". Wherever we go, is clean in so far as we are "clean" soul-wise. Bathrooms are places where natural facilities run their course, so to speak, by the purpose of God's design.

So yes. Wear your scapular there. Though I could see how reading the Bible while "doing your work on the seat in there" could look a little blasphemous.

No, I don't shower with my scapular.

  • I wear a 5 fold scapular all the time, but I do take it off for practical reasons, such as dowering, swimming, or sweaty outdoor work.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

Of course.  It is good to be enrolled by a valid Priest one time.  Then you can wear as many as you like, get each new one blessed by a valid Priest.
"I receive Thee, redeeming Prince of my soul. Out of love for Thee have I studied, watched through many nights, and exerted myself: Thee did I preach and teach. I have never said aught against Thee. Nor do I persist stubbornly in my views. If I have ever expressed myself erroneously on this Sacrament, I submit to the judgement of the Holy Roman Church, in obedience of which I now part from this world." It's not necessary to have one's scapular blessed if one is already enrolled. On the other hand, if one has permission to wear a scapular medal in place of the scapular itself, that must be blessed.

I had no idea about this.  I would like this conferred by someone.  I will keep getting my new ones blessed until I'm sure I was wrong.

My priest told me that the first scapular you get when being enrolled is blessed. After that, all replacement scapulars don't have to be blessed.

A scapular must me made of wool cloth. A metal scapular is not permitted.

A scapular medal (not a "metal scapular") is permitted for those who, for whatever reason, can't wear the scapular itself.
