That the NO "mass" is an abuse of a sacred thing there should be no doubt by definition makes the NO service itself a sacrilege. Which is why I don't think the bishop will or should grant a dispensation, but that's his call.

I wonder how many people just go ahead and go based on their presumption that it's ok to go as long as they don't participate.

Tradition was founded on the principle of avoiding the new mass at all costs. If one makes an allowance for the new mass (and many do), then they aren’t real Trads (and many aren’t). This is proven by the fact that many “Trads” don’t find the indult TLM objectionable. Why not? Because they don’t grasp the evils of the new mass; they don’t understand why Tradition was ever started.

If you don’t understand/agree with the purpose of a movement/organization, how can you be mad if someone says you aren’t a true member of it? Anger just comes from a guilty conscience.
