  • Oh, dear.  I am so sorry to hear that, Myrna.  Let me tell you a story---a true story.

There was a woman lying in a coma for a long time. There was a priest who would sit with her sometimes.  He would pray and talk to her, but she just lay there in her coma.  Then one day he got the idea that she might need to make a confession.  So he went through a confession with her, asking the questions and leaving her to answer them in her head.  When he was done, she suddenly sat up, exclaimed over something beautiful she saw, and dropped over dead.

We can't know the ways of God.  But we have lots of reason to hope.

  • We have some good guide lines here and I thought of another.  Jesus taught us to sacrifice ourselves to save others while satan teaches us to sacrifice others to save ourselves.  What I want to do with this thread is figure out what Jesus would say we should do about this situation.

It would help a lot if we knew what the Fantastic Four are hoping to accomplish, but failing that we can look at what they do accomplish.  So far I've only noticed that they will not tolerate anything said in America's favor, that they despise all things the Founding Father's said or did and won't allow anyone to bring it up.  Anyone else have any ideas on this?

I'm going to take DMorgan up on his cites.  Are you saying that the one who holds out to the end, the same shall be saved?

If you read the Old Testament, you will notice the our Holy God severely chastised the Jєωs numerous times for disobeying His comandments. God always preserved a holy, faithful remnant to fulfill His promise to Abraham, Solomon, and David. All of the ancient prophets fortold of coming chastisements to the Jєωs due to their repeated unbelief and turning away. The Teachings of our Lord in the New Testament are no different. Just as the Consecration says "For Many" not all church militant will hold on to the faith. We see this around us constantly. The changes to Holy Mother Church since V-II have led many souls to hell, and many more will follow.

The Holy Gospel according to St. Mathew, chapter 24:
"6 And you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that ye be not troubled. For these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be pestilences, and famines, and earthquakes in places: 8 Now all these are the beginnings of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall put you to death: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then shall many be scandalized: and shall betray one another: and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall seduce many. 12 And because iniquity hath abounded, the charity of many shall grow cold. 13 But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved."

The sins of many, inside and outside of Holy Mother Church has purchased this chastisement, but we can persevere to the end. Pray for God to restore Holy Mother Church.
    D. Morgan

With truly lamentable results, our age, casting aside all restraint in its search for the ultimate causes of things, frequently pursues novelties so ardently that it rejects the legacy of the human race.   "Lamentabili Sane Exitu" Pope St. Pi

  • Thank you DMorgan.  That was the final touch for me.  I have concluded that we should leaven and convert this country rather than bash it.  This is my opinion.  What's yours?

  • This country was Catholic, it was stolen from the Catholics. It does not need conversion but re-conversion. It was stolen and taken over by Protestants. This land was claimed by Our Lady of Guadalupe. And, the sad thing is that it is only by Catholics who are apologetic's for the country as it has been run since 1776 that this abomination has lasted for so long.
The have even mocked our Lady by putting an ape of her in New York Harbour called "Lady Liberty."
I for one shall have none of it. For it is the highest form of insult to the Martyrs of America such as St. Issac Jogues and so many others from Canada to  Mexico that have shed their blood in this land.

wel lsaid.once England broke from RCC, they claimed land they had no right under the 1494 treaty between Spain/Portugal to claim...unless someone knows of a pre-Henry VIII break with Rome arrangement?

the slow settlement and conversion of spainards was interrupted by England.....hence, more massacres, wars, disunity....

we celebrate the NA martyrs, but they would have never cheered a nation comprised of deists, occultics, freemasons, disunified Prots,etc......

sorry, no  cigar on that one.during the USA Revolt, many in Quebec refused to join in, part because of Prot hatred of them, part due to the fact this was Catholic land.....Oppressive as England was over them, they saw things were getting worse..

Even Calvinst John Lofton at TAV has critcized the USA revolt, preferring the Puritan Mass days.....should tell us something....

Trinity, define bashing it.....you use it as a adjective a lot, but that is what we have tried in copious posts now to get through to you...merely waving a flag, reciting some tired out jingoism and rarely criticizing the USA is not going to affect conversion and does not get to the root of the matter....you way will not work and has not.....your way has had over 200+ yrs to work and has not.......

  • I would be more inclined to mourn lost opportunities.  How can anyone think that God was never here?  Where goodness is, there is God because He is the author of all goodness.  And there was and still is goodness here.  If not than every person on this board is a devil.
