  • What ever happened to the infallible teaching "there is no
    salvation outside of the church."
The Pope should be converting the Lutherans to the
true faith, not by giving scandal by joining them in any
    ceremony.

Ratzinger would need to convert to the true Faith before he could convert anyone else to it.

You have not been paying attention.  Those teachings were for a former time.  The Church has evolved since then and no longer needs to fear other religions.

I don't know why you have been saying this in just about all of your posts lately, but it is not a sin if someone does NOT believe Benedict is an anti-pope. Not to sound rude, but you need to stop saying this on every thread that talks about Benedict. Whether you are trying to start up a fight or not, this will probably end up starting one either way.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • As far as my take on this subject, I really am not that surprised. It's amazing how this rubbish appears right in front of the very eyes of people, and yet so many cannot recognize what is happening! They have a spiritual veil over their heads.

The reason is, lately, I sincerely do not understand the reason, that is why I have been asking.

An anti-pope is a person claiming to be or elected pope in opposition to the one chosen by church law.  So then if these VII popes are anti-popes who are they opposing?  No one, therefore the chair is empty because they are not opposing anyone.  There is no one to oppose!

They are not anti-popes but no pope of anykind.

If they are not anti-popes they must be true popes, or no pope. So pick one, which one fits the definition.

    Please pray for my soul.

Antipopes of the past did not implicitly deny practically every doctrine of the Faith.

Most of them probably had the Catholic Faith.

They were often men who genuinely believed they were Pope.

  • I agree, and that is exactly my point, these "pope" since Vatican II are not anti popes, some here give them too much credit.

  • Is someone saying all popes past vat11 are not real popes? Did Jesus not have 12 disciples yet we all know Judas betrayed Jesus. Whether the popes do their job (which is to protect the deposit of faith and be the vicar of christ) or not that is up to God whether or not he stays in power or not. Every breath we take is a gift from God whatever these popes do or dont do that is for them to render an account. As for me he is my pope, the succession of Peter has not been broken.  Whatever person in authority who does not speak or behave or teach like a catholic I simply do not follow or adhere to. We have the teachings and traditions of the Holy Catholic Church so we have lots to lean on. Those are my sentiments, Annie

    Hi Annie,

Benedict does not speak or behave or teach like a Catholic.

Maybe you have not noticed, or do you choose not to follow or adhere to him?

  • As someone who is still on the fence regarding the "status" of the current Pope, I have to ask: is this event, in and of itself, enough to determine that Benedict XVI is not the Pope? In other words, is this considered heresy? Modernism? EENS? What is the official term one would use to argue this point?

This is a genuine question as I'm trying to understand. I know that this type of "ecuмenical service" really bothers me, but I don't why "officially."

    Does that make sense?

Traditional Catholics will consider this HERESY. The Church
does not evolve. She is unchangeable :incense:.

    I hope this helps....

Pope Pius XI, Mortalium Animos (# 10), Jan. 6, 1928: “… this Apostolic See has never allowed its subjects to take part in the assemblies of non-Catholics…”1

Canon 1258.1, 1917 Code of Canon Law: “It is not licit for the faithful by any manner to assist actively or to have a part in the sacred rites of non-Catholics.”6
