Posturing while giving $5 million to contraception-providing and abortionist-befriending "Charity"

How about a "Fortnight for Apologizing to the Faithful" now?

From LifeSiteNews:

U.S. bishops’ relief agency gives $5.3 million to major contraception-providing charity

July 17, 2012 - In the epic battle between the American Catholic bishops and the Obama Administration over being forced to pay for contraceptive coverage, the efforts of the bishops have been undermined time and again by individual Catholics and Catholic entities that support contraception. One major example of this is within the Bishops’ own jurisdiction.

Catholic Relief Services (CRS), “the official overseas relief and development agency of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops” has recently given millions to an organization that doles out contraceptives, including abortifacient ‘emergency contraception.’

The most recent CRS annual returns (2010) indicate that the largest CRS grant — $5.3 million — went to CARE, an international “relief and development organization,” that actively promotes and provides contraceptives for women in developing countries, and supports pro-abortion groups and legislation.

According to the 2010 990s, CRS gave $5,380,466 to CARE, which is noted on page 86 of the filing.
...

The HLI [Human Life International] president noted that that CARE has made “‘reproductive health’—which typically includes contraception as well as abortion—a cornerstone of their ‘development’ strategies.” Because the revenues that CARE receives are fungible, he said, any funds given them would automatically support their whole program—including abortion lobbying and contraception.

Regardless of one's opinion of the present U.S. Administration, do not things like these make the USCCB campaign at least look like mere political posturing, and undermine the positive view many non-Catholics have of it?

  • Thank YOu so much for this post.  I have tried on life site news to bring the truth out.  Show me one Bishop of the New Order that is Pro-life or Pro- family!  As long as they support the charities, any charity they are not who they claim to be, a Bishop.  They are anti=family!!  If we do the research, the catholic church was taking money from the federal gov't since 1936,  and still does.  There is no charitable institution in the New Order.  NO monies should go to any of the charities. St. Vincent De Paul, directs patients to Planned Parenthood and state run clinics for abortion.  The New Order advertises  these charities with tear jerking stories to get the peoples monies.  Our rosaries should be in front of the dioceses.  They are the biggest deliverer of immorality and abortion.  It is so easy to prove with the use of a computer.  One could actually ponder, that the New Order church, is doing the business of the state and is not even a religion at all!  The People are being deceived or they know and agree!  I am traditional.  I have been since 1996 and 59 years of age, cradle catholic.  I have tried to prove this point to friends in the New Order and they just shrug it off and call me Pope basher and such.  I know new order deacons who signed up their parishioners for welfare reform which included birth control, because if one becomes pregnant, they can lose benefits.  I know the teen preg. prevention programs teach no sacraments, are secular programs with condoms and contraception link ups.  If only these New Order people would wise up!

  • Mom Mobile(linked with march of dimes) Domestic Violence hides Planned Parenthood.  Some organizations have the ideology of PP like Annie B. Casey foundation, virginia Piper, Poor La Casa, any and all state agencies(note phone numbers).  DES(dept of econ. security) and Dept of Health, the hospitals have handbook of services on computer. Cath. Health Care West just changed their name to Dignity Health.  but their handbooks gave contraceptives to abortion here at St Joes and yet no one said anything for years! Bishop Olmsted is sneaky and lies.  That hospital was doing its directives to the letter.  Olmsted they could not do abortions when their book had pages that said yes and how to go about it with address and phone numbers and etc.  Also, hospitals, if they still keep their "catholic identity" can be found serving school based and linked clinics (healthcare reform) The National Clearinghouse on Family and Youth Bureau tell about the clinics.  This is the secret of secrets. This is all healthcare reform that has been with us for at least 22 years!  All schools must have a clinic and must have a hospital linked.  Abortions and contraceptives will continue  and buses will give transportation and parents will sign their children all for free! Out of our pockets.  For the state of AZ I have the directory for 1998 of all clinics and each on has all the services and all the organizations that support them from the tobacco tax to the "charities". So, let me find some more: First things first, and St Joes was listed in 1998, catholic social services on our south side were referring NFP to Planned Parenthood phone numbers. Monies come from grants, In-knid donations,Junior league united way of course, Phoenix Suns charity, COX charities,Title V grant and Title X grants and because of the way the healthcare reform is set up all businesses pay into the system. St JOes was partnershipped  and came under Maricopa integrated health system and had their on clinic/center and were set up to take care of 11 or 14 abortion clinics and staff at St. Joes were furious. That hit the AZ Rep. Florence Crittenton, Girl scouts, Flinn foundation for AZ, the BHHS Legacy Foundation and Stephen and Shelby Batterfield US Senator Jon Kyl and Ed Pastor were procuring additional federal funding.  St. Elizabeth Health Center, Teen Lifeline, Pregnancy and breastfeeding hotline also known as Baby AZ, Mercy Care,YMCA, honeywell,SPRANS grant,TAPP programs,North Star youth partnership,AZ Rep. paper stated that CHW never had a conflict with a bishop about CHW supporting abortion and etc. and that was 1997. Kids Care, Office of Women and children health, Healthy moms/healthy babies.  There are so many.  Pick up or go on site to any dioceses paper and read articles and note grants, pilot studies and all the grant giving foundations.  These foundations give monies to those who support their ideology.  The paper are mostly for fund raisers.  BE WATCHFUL for REVITALIZATION.  That is Industrial Areas Foundation, one of those in CCHD.  So Many!!

  • I would like to know, how the pro-life organizations are seeing this of CRS.  There are some pro-life (New Order) groups that I refuse to give anything $ to!  Some of their presidents are/were on Lifesite.news stating how wonderful Bishop so-and-so is! How wonderfully pro-life they are, when in truth, they are NOT!!  I have chirped to these orgs. only to be barricudaed and so I would send   copies off websites to prove my point that these bishops are not pro-llife, therefore they are not doing their jobs to save souls and etc!  But these presidents continued giving showmanship to bishops who give to no charities but to State run orgs with the parishioners money! To anyone reading these posts, Get out of New Order and stay out and that includes all so-called charities.  Put your money into the traditional churches until Chapter 12 of Daniel comes and God has his D-DAY!
