This was just dropped today. Dr Heller, who witnessed Bp Thuc's consecration of the 3 priest's in 1981, shares his story and background.
    Part 2 will be following.

I hope it helps those that have doubts or who have only listened to one side of the story.

  • That's really nice to see ... thanks for posting.  Not only has Archbishop Thuc been mercilessly slandered by SSPV and that crowed, but so has Dr. Heller (and Hiller).  To me it's quite clear that Dr. Heller had a sufficient command of Latin to know whether the Rite had been followed, as he rattled off Latin phrases with great fluency, despite his age, and he mentioned in his autobiographical section that he had attended a seminary school (presumably a Minor Seminary), and would undoubtedly have learned Latin, and the theological lectures (aka classes) he attended / took would likely have been conducted in Latin.  What's interesting is that Archbishop Thuc and Bishop Carmona opted to converse in Latin, and Archbishop Thuc was correcting mistakes that +Carmona had made ... something that's undoubtedly the work of a man who's so feeble-minded that he couldn't validly consecrate.  I've heard this from other witnesses also, that +Thuc often could switch from one language to another at a table with preists who spoke different languages ... and would not lose his train of thought within each individual conversation.  Just merciless smear jobs from those folks.

Dr. Heller will be greatly rewarded by God for the untold souls he's assisted via the +Carmona and +des Lauriers lines.

I've long suspected that 90% of the men who claimed to have been consecrated by +Thuc were simply abject liars and frauds, ala Ambrose Moran ... and Dr. Heller gives examples of people who claimed to have been consecrated by +Thuc when in fact +Thuch had been with them in Munich at the time.

I'd certainly stay away from any +Thuc line not deriving from +des Lauriers or +Carmona ... both those lines are solid.

  • I thought this thread would have received much more engagement. I guess people do not really care about what Dr. Heller says. Regardless of any new information that comes to light about the Thuc consecrations, SSPVers and others will condemn them as invalid.

I for one think this new interview sheds some light on a few of the key attacks leveraged against Thuc in The Sacred and the Profane. Dr. Heller mentions how before each ceremony, he had prolonged conversations with Thuc about exactly what they want. Bishop Kelly and Father Jenkins like to attack Dr. Heller for having not known what a pontifical was, which we can see was a misinterpretation since Dr. Heller mentions being the one who actually provided the pontifical; and it does not seem like he could be mistaken since he goes into detail about how painstaking it was to obtain. Dr. Heller mentions Thuc holding an entire conversation in Latin after the ceremonies with Bps. Carmona & Zamora. He constantly testifies to his mental acuity, consistency, and thoroughness.

So, the man whose testimony 30 years ago to (then) Father Kelly and gang is now personally rejecting all of the attacks on Thuc that Bishop Kelly has thrown at the Archbishop (citing Dr. Heller's testimony for the most part). I guess we can just throw away our copies of The Sacred and the Profane! Dr. Heller, who speaks little English, was operating through a translator when Kelly and gang visited him. I am sure this gave ample way to misunderstanding, taking things out of context, and not being able to clarify totally. These attacks, caused by misunderstandings -- now clarified by Dr. Heller himself -- should no longer be hurled at Thuc and his line. But I am sure we will see a video from Fr. Jenkins in a few days saying: "This... is not what Dr. Heller told us.... He was... Very adamant that he did not know what a pontifical was through.... his... translator. For the sake... of his soul.... I hope Thuc was insane... No sane man would.... do these things... It is quite... convenient.... that Dr. Heller decides.... to change his testimony 40 years... later..."

I don't think many are interested in this video because people have already made their mind up on Thuc. No amount of new information will change anyone's mind in either direction.
    Pray for me

  • I just think that most people here realize that Bishop Kelly's attack were nothing but slanderous crap, and perhaps thus the level of engagement.  That +Thuc was clearly in his right mind cannot be disputed, from numerous witnesses.  If he did some imprudent things in life, well, then, welcome to the club ... but the minimum mental acuity to ordain / consecrate requires only the know that he's doing what the Church does to ordain / consecrate, and simply be able to read the Latin, which he clearly could do.  +Thuc had multiple doctorates, had consecrated bishops before, and was conversing with Father-then-Bishop Carmona in Latin and correcting the former's mistakes.

There's nothing left here obviously besides the negative doubt of "what if" +Thuc messed up the form.  In that case, he too could be welcomed to the club.  What if Bishop Williamson messed up consecrating the ones he did in secret, or in his conditional ordinations/consecrations, which rarely had audiences or witnesses?  Ah, but +Kelly had witnesses and video when +Mendez consecrated him, a few days after he did not recognize his own relatives after a stroke.  Well, Bishop Kelly at all, what if the priest who baptized you messed up, eh?  You could have had 500 co-consecrators and 50 videos from different angles, and it would make no difference.

Worst of all is the fact that they gravely slandered the character of Archbishop Thuc, who in my opinion was a holy man.  You just need to read his autobiography, and others attest to the fact that he didn't utter a word of complaint when he, a Prince of the Church, was relegated to living in a tiny, dirty hole in the wall for his quarters, and he was grateful for this, that the pastor of a parish would permit him to earn his keep by hearing Confessions and doing catechism at the church there.  Everyone who has ever met him reports that he was extremely devout, especially when offering Mass, and was a man of great kindness and humility, who loved souls.

What Montini and the Conciliar hierarchy did to him was an absolute disgrace, and SSPV (+Kelly et al.) are no better in that regard.  Shame on them.  They need to publicly apologize and make reparation for destroying the man's good name.

  • A good video. The part were Dr Heller talks about initially having no contact information for Abp. Thuc, and spending half his vacation time searching for information on Abp Thuc's whereabouts, makes me grateful for the resources that Cathinfo and the internet provide. Thanks be to God for dedicated Catholics.
