Hello,
What is the view on the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest by traditionalists? What does the FSSPX think of them? What does the FSSP think of them?
Thanks,
Through Jesus and Mary,
TT.

To quote a phrase from Bishop Williamson's latest EC:
They are "conservatives, who conserve little other than their faith in faithless churchmen."
There aint much traditional about them; you can find their theology well represented by any priest on EWTN.
All smells/bells; no doctrine.
And certainly not pennence.
But they got some darn nice lace (and can write dissertations on the best kinds).
If the leader of the order masquerades as a monsignor, what should that tell you?

There was a specific forum thread on Cath Info about them. I can't find it. It's more interesting to ask their priests and those who attend their chapels of what they think of the SSPX. They had Cardinal Brandmüller over in Ireland for confirmations in recent times.
The parents could easily have gone to the SSPX. Most of the time its excuses. They either are not seeing the full picture or just don't want to know. In Ireland, the Institute is well supported by TFP. Another group we should stay clear of. I'm not a fan of Tradition, Family, and Property.
I remember a priest having reservations about me attending the SSPX. I thought him a hypocrite given he says both the Traditional Mass and that invented protestant Novus Ordo.
I would stay well clear of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. In ways they are an enemy as are modernists in another guise.
What I can see happening is some who attend Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest will eventually move over to likes of the SSPX. The other way around would be tragic.
There are a few TFP supporters attending SSPX in Ireland. I would be wary of this.

I have never met Msgr Wach but met Msgr. Schmitz. There is something superficial about them for certain. They are worse than the FSSP. I find their world view superficial but that is just my personal opinion. I met a couple of their priests and it all seemed smells and bells. I am happy to stick with the SSPX.

Dressing altar boys as little Cardinals comes to mind.

I once had a private meeting with a Institute priest and he let me know in no uncertain terms that they accept Vatican 2 and all it's teaching and support the validity of the new mass. He said if you don't have access to a traditional mass on Sunday you should attend the novus ordo. He also told me that in their seminary that seminarians are encouraged to attend the new mass to fulfill their Sunday obligation if they can't make it to the traditional mass. He called the SSPX a cult and used other disparaging words to describe them.

More moderate or soft line types attending SSPX in Ireland support them. I have a problem with this. Many of these also think Cardinal Burke is something brilliant. It's all very strange at times. I'm fairly hardened in my views. They fail to realise the Institute apostolate is a deliberate ploy to undermine Tradition.
I'm currently discerning marriage but certainly would only marry a 'Pixie Chick' An Indult girl is nearly worse than a Novus Ordo type.

It would be necessary to "tradify" them. And they need to be of the same political view. A friend of mine is discerning marriage and a great admirer of Mussolini. The young lady is not so keen. Catholic men should marry a good fascist woman.

Ensure that the girl is tradify-ied before the wedding date.
It's true that some in the novus ordo are deluding themselves into thinking that the problems they see all around them are the product of a local bad priest or a disinterested bishop (not that those circuмstances are ever helpful) and once she is introduced to tradition she will never go back. That's the best case scenario. The worst case scenario is that she thinks there is no rupture from pre- to post-Vatican II.
It's not needed to say this, most people here understand, but if the woman you are engaged to is pro-Vatican II and thinks the new springtime is working out as best as it could... Well, don't walk - run!

The "priests" of the Institute of Christ the King are ordained by Bishops consecrated in the new and invalid rite of consecration, and are therefore not valid priests.
They are just laymen acting like priests.
Go to the CMRI instead. They have valid priests.
