  • I would like to subscribe to a Traditional Catholic newspaper(print version not just online). Does anyone have any recommendations? I guess I would fall into the R&R camp but I am not completely opposed to the possibility of sedevacantism (I actually assist at both an ICKSP and sede chapel). I'm not looking for an exclusively sede paper but I'm fine with one that includes the sedevacantist position as well as R&R(if one exists). Also, how about Trad magazines?

  • The best I'd seen was the "Catholic" by the Transalpine Redemptorists in Scotland, but I don't know it they still publish it since they've joined Rome.
    I treasure my old copies.

  • The Reign of Mary is a good periodical.
Regard all of my posts as unfounded slander, heresy, theologically specious etc

  • Newspapers and magazines are so 20th century.

I'm only half-joking when I say that. I still prefer physical books to e-books. There's a connection there you don't get with e-books. But I completely understand that for PERIODICALS -- things with timely information (news, etc.) the most useful and most practical format is online.

Also, periodicals tend to need EDITORS, which means CENSORSHIP. Online has a lower cost of entry, and so the mom-and-pop alt sources can AFFORD to do business, as it were. It's much harder to get a print magazine/newspaper operation going -- which means THERE WILL BE GATEKEEPERS of information. The cost of entry is too high, which is a BAD THING when it comes to disseminating news, commentary, and opinions. You want those things to be as cheap and easy to do as possible. You want a high participation rate.

That is one aspect for which I'm a HUGE fan of the Internet. I'm the first one to acknowledge the many costs and downsides of the Internet. The Net has done a lot of harm to our attention spans, there's Social Media it has to apologize for, and of course everyone knows about how porn is much more popular than when it was in print-only form. But the good that was done in opening up news to much smaller, more ethical, NOT CONTROLLED organizations -- has almost made up for all the evils!

The Internet has done an end-run around the MSM -- that's an incredible good right there.

  • The Remnant is not bad at all, although the website available to all is often better, more timely (as Matthews says in general for webstites) than the electronic password protected periodical and print version. The print version is well laid out and a good reading experience.

  • For those of you familiar with "Catholic Family News", do the changes of attitude within the SSPX reflect in this paper considering some articles are written by SSPX priests?

  • The age of great Trad Catholic press is long gone: The Maryfaithful, Fortes in Fide, Approaches...even The Angelus is not what is was under the editorship of Fr. Pulvermacher or even Fr. Novak.
