Please note that he's putting an unsubscribe link at the bottom of his slanderous e-mails. Please make good use of it. In his latest e-mail, he brags that 97% of his recipients were happy with the e-mail, or at least didn't complain.
(Hey Rob Sheahan -- Maybe they just like a good laugh! At least one "happy recipient" told me so.)
He also gives the proverbial "finger" to mainstream ethical e-mailing practices. He claims that only one-worlders and liberals are against SPAM. Sorry, but what kind of example would it give protestants and non-Catholics if Catholics went around saying SPAM was ok?
The man went to a message board and harvested all the e-mail addresses of its members, without their consent, so he can send out e-mails slandering that board's owner and (he hopes) convince many to join his own new message board.
What man -- whether Catholic, traditional Catholic, protestant, or Buddhist -- would consider that to be moral and ethical behavior? And yet Rob Sheahan justifies such behavior as being
completely Catholic!
And St. Anthony Mary Claret wouldn't have used Google Cache to harvest e-mail addresses he wasn't meant to have -- he wouldn't have stolen addresses from a message board without the users' OR the forum owner's permission.
Not even under pretext of "helping souls". The ends don't justify the means, Rob. What kind of Catholic are you?And for those who are so inclined --
There's a free service here, where you can forward his unsolicited mass e-mails. When they get a bunch of complaints, he'll certainly get in trouble.
http://www.spamcop.net/There are other spam-reporting companies out there as well.
Thank you,
Matthew
