"I receive Thee, redeeming Prince of my soul. Out of love for Thee have I studied, watched through many nights, and exerted myself: Thee did I preach and teach. I have never said aught against Thee. Nor do I persist stubbornly in my views. If I have ever expressed myself erroneously on this Sacrament, I submit to the judgement of the Holy Roman Church, in obedience of which I now part from this world." Saint Thomas Aquinas the greatest Doctor of the Church

  • Near 20 years or so ago, there was a paper/essay by the same name, The Robber Church, that began by using a rounded value of pi as example of the absurdity of the new church.  I may have a copy of it in the library.  Do you recall the essay?  Do you recall the author?

I do not.  Founding a Church different than the one Christ founded is indeed absurd as you have stated very well.

  • I found the essay (which in and of itself is amazing since the entire library is packed in boxes).

The journal was called INTERDVM by Patrick Henry Omlor.  Starting in Issue No. 6, March 6, 1971, with Part 1, and continuing Part 2 on May 31, 1971, in Issue No. 7 and Part 3 on November 11, 1971, in Issue No. 8, was "The Robber Church" series of articles.

  • The Robber Church, Part 1, "Pi and Vatican II" was the first article I read on the topic.  Needless to say, it changed my life.

  • A print copy of Omlor's "The Robber Church" can be purchased from the gentleman who operates this website: http://www.silvio-co.com/store/index.htm

He doesn't have the book listed in his inventory, but if you contact him via email, you can arrange the purchase.

    Yes, ditto!
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)
