About 4 years ago I attended a daily Mass at the parish nearest me. I must have been running late or was off from work because normally on the day of the school Mass I attended the earlier Mass at the cathedral.
So I go to the school Mass. All the adults who attend the daily Mass here are pushed to the back by the school and some parents show too, so the place is packed. Not all the classes make it on time so we always run over waiting for them to come in. All the classes storm in with the kids screaming and yelling and running around. Eventually, the music director tries to get things under control with the choir but it normally takes a couple false starts. Once when the music director was at his father's funeral it was embarrassing because without the music the kids nor the teachers knew when to kneel or stand or the responses to the Mass, not even the 8th graders.
So, at this particular Mass these two mothers sit behind me while I am trying to pray. One of the ladies son's is seen climbing over his classmates and then comes running and screaming to give mommy a hug and then goes screaming back to his class.
The priest here transferred from another diocese. At that diocese he was the vocational director. He was also the chaplain of a gαy organization he helped organize and is on the internet giving communion to gαy "catholics" and their families- afterwards they jump on the rainbow float they made and march at the gαy parade. The folks I have researched online he has invited to give retreats at the parish are all involved in the gαy movement and have been moved from diocese to diocese. Once we had a nun at a Sunday Mass in a pant suit say the homily.
Anyway, these two women behind me are having a conversation. They do not care that it can be overheard by everyone nearby or the fact that people are trying to pray or where they are. The one lady's husband has gotten his girlfriend pregnant and they are trying to work it all out what they are going to do as a couple. They talk about another mom in the parish whose husband is also cheating.
As half the school is getting caught up in the singing while the other half is still shouting I get up and leave. I see no point in staying at this Mass, undoubtedly Jesus has already left.
Later, I could not help but to wonder about something, a married man with a mortgage, a career, and 3 kids in Catholic school, where did he find the time to get a girlfriend pregnant ? I guess his kids don't need help with their homework, guidance, a hug, a shoulder to cry on. I guess his wife must be really boring despite the fact I have to admit she is a total knockout- she of course needs no help with the house or the kids. That woman is a rug, that is no marriage. She is stepped on and stays because he is rich. He is also a pig.
Anyone else want to share anecdotes about the NO experience ?
