  • I must admit that I find it aggravating and saddening that many mistakenly think that the Jєωs of today are God's people when it is really Catholics who are God's people. The Jєωs are our enemies and forfeited and went against the Mosaic covenant with God, but we Catholics who have the inheritance still of the Abrahamic covenant are their true friends (as Bishop Williamson had pointed out some years ago) and love them because we want them to come to the Truth, Who is Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself. We should pray to have the same attitude of Our Lord on the Cross when He asked the Father to forgive them and also that of St. Stephen Protomartyr who perfectly reflected the same attitude when he desired that the sin of the Jєωs stoning him would not be laid to their charge. Let us pray for the conversion of the Jєωs so that they may enjoy heavenly bliss forever united with the One Triune God. Amen.
    :incense:

  • I agree with your sentiments, Kephapaulos, with exception of your claim that Jesus referred to the Jєωs when He said "Father, forgive them"  The "them" is the soldiers. He was, in fact, referring to the Roman soldiers who had crucified Him and who cast lots for His garment.

    Quote
Gospel According to Saint Luke Chapter 23 [33] And when they were come to the place which is called Calvary, they crucified him there; and the robbers, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. [34] And Jesus said: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. But they, dividing his garments, cast lots.

That's not to say He didn't forgive certain Jєωs who later repented of their evil will to have Him killed.

Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • Thank you, Nadir, for pointing out my error. I understand better now. It makes better sense to me now what Our Lord said.

He was referring to everyone except the high priests, because they knew He was the Messiah yet still killed Him. Yes, he was even referring to the Jєωs in the mob; they were ignorant, and the high priests instigated them.
