Let me ask you a question. How many baptisms are there?

Are you referring to the term "unum baptisma" in the Nicene Creed?  Do you really think that you have noticed some stunning argument against BoD that St. Robert Bellarmine or St. Thomas just happened not to notice?

The error that must be fought is not baptism of desire, it is the extension of this principle to salvation outside the Church entirely, as seen in the Baltimore Catechism or as taught by "Abp." Cushing.  Father Feeney went too far, and seems to have tapped into some kind of psychological weakness of a great many people, who are overreacting to the heresies of the day.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  • Father Feeney´s position is not "too far".  However if you hold a catechumen can receive BOD I wouldn't say you are a heretic.  The Church will need to clarify this issue first.

  • Sorry about the deleted posts, guys --

I was trying to trim down a LIBRARY post -- one that isn't supposed to have discussion! The Library is for one-post, locked reference docuмents only. Not discussions.

I then realized that it's a good discussion in its own right --

Sorry I can't bring back those posts, but you guys brought it upon yourselves. Read the forum description next time!

Don't be ridiculous Mike.  Did Bellarmine or St. Thomas have access to the Vatican Council definitions of infallibility?  No.  Did they have access to THE SUM OF HUMAN HISTORY AT THE CLICK OF A MOUSE?

Get real.  You're argument above is truly pathetic.  It's no wonder you always run away from directly answering my questions, or conceding, let alone even acknowledging many of the points I make.
