    • We have been hearing that the Novus Ordo has changed its ritual for its "Holy Orders" to more closely correspond with, or to revert to, the real and traditional Sacrament of Holy Orders ceremony (our Latin Mass one).  It is making neo-trads or novus ordo people say that now there is no question that their "priests" are "ordained."  I hope I have explained this well enough and that I will be indulged with if not - I hope the question is understood.  The question is - is this true?  And if the Novus Ordo has revamped its ceremony of ordination so that it is less questionable, or unquestionable, are its ordinations now ok - legit?  Any information or background from someone who knows about this or has examined this is VERY GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!  Great problems are arising from this issue now and a resolve may help several families.  That the Novus Ordo or Moto Mass priests may be ordained, is being used as fodder for it being ok to now attend those "Masses."  So, what's the latest on the Novus Ordo change in its sacrament of holy orders ceremony?  God bless you all.

    • Where did you hear of this change?  I haven't heard anything of the sort.  Granted, I haven't been spending time in diocesan circles, but I have to imagine that such a change would have surfaced at least a little bit somewhere on these forums.

    Of course, even reverting back to the old rite of ordination doesn't do a whole lot of good now that most of the new order bishops are doubtful, nor does it do anything for all the new order priests already ordained in the new rite, unless the new order plans on conditional ordinations for all of them.

    • Yes - you are right about the bishops, etc. Just picked up the info - heard a little here and read a tad there - about the "changes" ... someone else today asked about it too and that required me to finally sit down here and ask CI folks about how true, and what it was exactly.  Thanking all in advance!!

    Next time someone tells you the Vatican has changed the rites of orders for priests and/or bishops after 1970, please ask for a source for this information.  I would think that something like this might get a little publicity, but, apparently, only a few select people who happen to speak with you know about it.  The rest of the world is in utter darkness.

    Even then, as Mithrandylan noted, the new bishops were consecrated in an (at best) doubtful rite (though I am convinced that it is invalid) so laymen using a true rite still cannot make a true bishop.

    • Yes we REALIZE that about the bishops.  No lectures or criticisms please.  Hindsight is not helping.  We are just humbly asking starting today for any further information on this matter if anyone should possibly know.

    • In the ordinations I have witnessed, there has always been cookies and punch afterwards, will that change ? I certainly hope not  :ready-to-eat: .

    What's wrong with lectures?  Isn't that what you go to college for?

    If you don't want lectures then why go to college?

    When you go to a lecture, you can ask a question and get an answer:  

    "Can we please have any further information on this matter if anyone should possibly know?"  

    You can ask that question at most lectures I've been to.  

    Of course, you'll have to be a little more specific, if you'd really like an answer.
