Taylor Marshall and Book of Enoch
« on: April 05, 2023, 08:18:13 PM »

I don't know if this copy and paste of link will come through.  But this is a recent show on YouTube from Taylor Marshall concerning "The Book of Enoch."  It is causing some disturbance - I only heard the very beginning and looked at the comments.  Anyone familiar with this topic and his coverage?

I saw the video some time ago.  Apart from disagreeing with his conclusions, he's showing his Modernist colors there in some of his comments there regarding Sacred Scripture.  It's one of the first litmus tests for Modernist, how they think about Sacred Scripture.

This guy gets more cringe every day.  He’s really dumbed down his videos.  Shows who his audience is.

Urgh, where to begin.

The book of enoch basically makes humans into dumb animals that had no prior knowledge of things even though we see how capable Adam (naming animals) and Cain (building cities) are.

Also just because some passages in Enoch are legit (as quoted by Jude) doesn't mean that the entire book is legitimate.

Enochs biggest weakness is often overlooked. Giants are both before AND after the flood. If the angels had half breed children and those children were wiped out, how is it that the same term is used when Israel goes into the promised land? After all Noah was perfect in his 'generation' (either meaning, spiritual (my understanding) or physical).

I personally don't believe that Nephilim meant half breed angel children as I don't even think angels have physical bodies (and no marriage in heaven).

Also very sad to see Marshall not even state the Church's position on Enoch (it's not canon for a reason), he effectively presents these "facts of Enoch" as facts in general because he doesn't warn his viewers or use any sort of disclaimer...

What sort of disturbance and in whom?

The guy disturbs me. Why is he raving about the Book of Enoch? It is not Sacred Scripture.
