Cruiser, to be traditional is to be Catholic.
.
As St Paul urges us
[2 Thessalonians 2:14]:
"Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle."
That's what we Catholics do.
.
Being a cradle Catholic for 72 years, I had never heard this word "traditional" to refer to Catholics; but since John XXIII opened the windows and let in
fresh air all manner of deviation from those traditions which St Paul exhorts us to hold, we needed a word to cover those persons and practices which were true to the traditional teachings. We needed the word "traditional" to differentiate between what is the faith handed down and deviations brought about by Vatican II.
.
I look forward to the day when we have a pope who will declare Vatican II to be a false council.
