  •  - Pope Francis denounced on Wednesday what he called a "culture of waste" in an increasingly consumerist world and said throwing away good food was like stealing from poor people.

"Our grandparents used to make a point of not throwing away leftover food. Consumerism has made us accustomed to wasting food daily and we are unable to see its real value," Francis said at his weekly audience in St. Peter's Square.

The most powerful man in the Church worrying about food being wasted while the world goes to hell on rails riding the Novus Ordo train.

Business as usual for the Conciliar religion.

  • Not wasting food is fine.

What interests me in this is the timing, since starvation and waste is not at all new. Francis is marching to the drum of an external power to the Church.

He is calling on people to an examination of conscience regarding their priorities with respect to the things that they have. Here in hte USA one of the biggest health concerns is obesity while in other places many people do not get enough to eat.

Yes, but it's a strange coincidence that he says this now when across the western world this same point is being made in the secular sphere. Why? What's changed? Nothing has changed, it is just the agenda item for the current moment, for some unrelated end which is not yet obvious.

Why do you get caught up in the Conciliarist rhetoric?

Calling on people to an examination of conscience about wasting food while the revolution itself has cost untold billions of dollars - that's  without even considering the additional billions of dollars  spent in judgements against the perversions of Conciliar clerics against children.

It is just fine to waste billions and billions of dollars - but don't waste no food - again, wake up and see what is real - the Conciliar Church is a religion of humanism - accept what you see, not what you are told to see.

  • Where I am from (uk) it is the poor and feckless who waste the most food.  They are disorganised, don't plan what to buy and let stuff go past its sellby date and then throw it away not realising that it is good for days or weeks beyond those manufacturers' worst-case dates.

I was brought up to eat everything on my plate, so, in our house, nothing goes to waste.

When bread goes stale we dry it above the oven and make breadcrumbs by grating the dried out bread.

Women also tend to waste food.  If you observe half eaten meals in restaurants they are invariably left by women.  I guess they don't want to get fat, bu why not simply order a started an not a main course?

Anyway, why is Pope Francis worrying about this tosh?  We have the technology to produce a surplus of food if we simply encourage it by fair and stable prices.

  • I was disgusted at my brother failing to eat a large proportion (nearly half of what he ordered, a large plateful) of a huge fillet of fish (fish and chips) he ordered.  It really looked delicious.  To think that fish was once a beautiful creature in the sea, and it isn't even being taken home in a box to be finished.  I don't recall the exact circuмstances why I didn't eat it.  It was taken away and I was working on a pizza.

    He said:

"You waste food when you order an excessive amount, not when you don't eat it"

He's always had a relatively weak appetite, so I suppose it's hard for him to finish a big meal.

He told me something else that is probably indicative of what is coming:

He said a very large fraction of medical students are vegetarians, giving an estimate of 20%.

I wonder how long we'll have to wait before vegetarians start trying to enforce their beliefs.

It's a common complaint of American-British couples that the British waste food. They say they won't eat leftovers, think expiration dates are set in stone, and they don't the British don't take home doggie bags (extras from their plate) when they go out to eat.

  • It is not possible for human beings to eat all the food that is produced.

A few generations ago, there was an excellent solution for uneaten meals:

    The pig.

  • Seriously, people who have gardens will almost invariably waste food, and likely large quantities of it.

    No he isn't.

    He's preaching a "secular pharaiseeism"!

However, keep posting this stuff, Pooch, because soon enough even the Vatican's gonna put a lid on this new silly man!

  • In the next few weeks or so, Pope Francis is going to say "God hates plactics" and "God hates pollution".

Is anyone keeping tabs on all these spiritually empty homilies coming from Pope Francis?  If you are, like 'em all up and see if they seem to come from a philosophical affinity for Marxism.  I suspect so.

It has been teh tradition of the Church to be concerned about the welfare of the poor. Food is such a basic need. Here in this country one of our biggest health concerns is with obesity. In other places it is with finding something to eat.
