If any man come to you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into the house nor say to him, God speed you.
May God bless you and keep you

Yeah how are you supposed to convert him then?
Jesus himself ate in the houses of publicans and prostitutes.
Such people were also heretics and not exactly holy.
Or are you implying christians should only talk to those who are a blank slate?
Then who on earth is a blank slate?
Or are you saying it should be an echo chamber?
Then who will fill the echo chamber when the beginning few are gone.
    Answer me that.

( and as pertains to my own situation, I was boycotted even though my doctrine was Catholic at the time. Just to be clear)

  • You need to consider the whole context:

2 John 1: 7For many seducers are gone out into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh: this is a seducer and an antichrist. 8Look to yourselves, that you lose not the things which you have wrought: but that you may receive a full reward. 9Whosoever revolteth, (apostasises) and continueth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that continueth in the doctrine, the same hath both the Father and the Son.

10If any man come to you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into the house nor say to him, God speed you. 11For he that saith unto him, God speed you, communicateth with his wicked works.

John is not talking here about heretics, but about apostates.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

As pointed out by Nadir, the passage is speaking of those who willfuly reject Christ and his teachings.
In a broad sense, if an apostate or any person professing a different religion enters a chapel (the santuary, "Holy of Holies", House of God) you can't give him Communion because he is not Catholic and that would be sacrilege.
There are some messed up churches that still do this anyways...
