George Lucas incorporated a number of different elements into his Star Wars saga: Arthur (Luke Skywalker) and the Knights of the Round Table (Chewbacca, etc.), Merlin (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Excalibur (Luke's lightsaber), Queen Guinevere (Princess Leia), Sir Lancelot (Han Solo), The Green Knight (Luke's father, Darth Vader), medievalism (subsistence living, peasant women in long dresses), medieval Catholicism (monasticism and monastic orders, celibacy of Jedi knights), nαzιsm (Imperial stormtroppers), Imperial Rome (the Republic senate and emperor), Star Trek (cloaking device, faster-than-light travel), materialism (C-3PO, a conscious and sentient robot), Satanism and the occult (Luke's journey into the Dagobah cave), paganism (many spiritualities, "all religions are true"), relativism (destroying whole civilizations to achieve a goal), futurism ("technology will solve all our problems"), etc.
Hardly an overall theme for a so-called Catholic confirmation class! Perhaps the good priest should consider the following testimony:
