Where does the "Fatima Hoax" idea come from?

Come on,
This is the very first I heard anyone calling Fatima a Hoax.
What did all those people see in the sky that was confirmed
by the atheist O Secula Newspaper. To many witnesses
to confirmed the reality of Fatima.

Whether or not its a hoax is absolutely irrelevant as far as my salvation is concerned.

What troubles me far more than the Fatima revisionists is the large number of Catholics who seem to have it drilled into their heads that Fatima is an article of Faith, and feel justified in forcing private revelations on everyone. Private revelations do not bind the conscience.

Hi everyone!
I have a dear friend that became involved with the Feeney heresy, and has gone from one heresy to another.
This is his latest e mail.  Have any of you seen this stuff discrediting Fatima?  Do you know who origionated this?

 :heretic:
Angles that looked like ghosts ,, Our Lady in short skirt, with ear rings, necklace ,, sounds like a disillusioned mind... Not reveleid twenty years later.  (enough time to make up stories).  Believe it if you like .. Portgaual as bad as the rest of the European countries. abortion NFP, etc.. The Buddist statue put on the Altar of where she supposed to have appeared...

have no idea about the rant on angels and the BVM dressing-first I heard of that story.....yes, Portugal is no better, hence the "portugal retaining Dogma of Faith" bit is rather hard to beleieve for me, rest of it, ofcourse I beleive.....as far as pagan statues,etc.....blame that on the NO Church and the rector......if one put said statue on a bible, does that then negate the bible?

The idea of a Fatima Hoax is particularly appealing to converts who went directly to sede vacantism.  They lack the history of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the deep devotion.
